Set up Home page
- Create a new page by Pages > Add New and name it Home.
- Go to Settings > Reading > Front Page Displays, check radio button A static page
select Home from Front Page dropdown box.
- Leave the Posts Page blank.
Create Home page layout as demo
Villa Magna theme support three areas at home page, top, left and sidebar.
- Top area shows the featured videos and to show videos at this area you first have
to create a category named Featured. Assign all featured posts to this category and
those videos will be shown at Top area. This area will list the latest 5 featured
videos.
Important: As indicated within the theme, you need to assign at least 5 posts to the Featured Category
for the Home page to display properly. Our recommendation is to assign your best looking videos to the
Featured Category.
- Left area supports 4 rows and will show the videos from the selected categories.
To set up the left area:
Go to Appearance > Theme Options > Homepage Left 4 category posts
- To set the categories at sidebar:

2. Go to Appearance > Theme Options > Homepage Sidebar category under Editor's
Picks .
Note: At the top of the sidebar there is a built in widget (Editor's Picks) which will
show the latest videos.
Create a Post (Video)
-Posts > Add New Post
- Enter post title
- Set Video as post format
- Choose in which categories you want to place the post
- Set featured image
To set video to your post, you have to add video embedded code or video id as
custom fields. These custom fields area is under the wordpress visual editor. If you
don't see Custom Fields there, do the following step:
- Click Screen Options button at the right corner while staying the Add New Post
area. A drop down will appear with different options. Select custom fields box to
show the Custom Fields under the visual editor.
-How to video in Custom Fields
- Select yui_embed and paste video embed code to Value field at right side.
Alternatively you can also select yui_videoID if you want to show video only by its
ID.
Click Publish (Update), your post is saved and added to the site.
Ad Widgets

3. Our theme has 2 areas to show your ads. One at the top (right side of logo) and 1 at
sidebar under the categories widgets. There are two widgets to support both
html/javascript and image/banner ads *.
To add those widgets:
-Go to Appearance > Widgets
- Choose the widgets of your choice and add it to either Header and (or)
Sidebar Ads area.
* Please install free Wordpress Ad Widget plugin ( https://wordpress.org/plugins/ad-widget/ ) to
enable html/javascript and image/banner ads widgets
You can either add videos manually into posts or use a video auto blog plugin.
The best auto blog plugin is Youtube Ultimate Import Plugin.
Villa Magna supports 3 places to show your menus (1 at top while 2 at footer)
To set menus
- Go to Appearance > Menus, create a new menu and add items either pages
or categories. Select theme location from the Menu Settings at the bottom.
We suggest using categories for the main menu items and placing the Contact us,
About Us and other pages in the footer menu.
Footer Setup
Footer area is divided into two parts, Widgets area and copyright text. There are
three built in widgets to show your contact details, recent posts and footer menu of
your choice. To set Widgets at footer :

4. Appearance > Theme Options > Contact and enter your contact details
Recent Posts
This widget will appear automatically at footer.
Pages
This area is to set footer menu for pages
Appearance > Menus > Create a new menu and select Footer Menu 2nd row
from Menu Settings theme location.
You can change the labels name for these widgets by going to:
Appearance > Theme Settings > Customize Label
To customize the theme color, go to Theme options > Color Settings
