Editor's Notes
-welcome, introduce self.
-excited to co-host this webinar with Farmers Market Coalition (Liz Comiskey, Membership Coordinatoris on the line as well)
-Goals of this webinar are to introduce you to MarketLink program and provide background on the USDA funding opportunity to support an increase in SNAP acceptance at farmers markets by providing free or low-cost EBT systems.
-Before we turn this over to our great speakers, I wanted to give a brief overview of our organizations
WW is dedicated to increasing affordability and access to fresh, locally grown food in ways that improve health, generate revenue for small and mid-sized farm businesses and bolster local and regional economies. They work across… Explain DVCP.
The Farmers Market Coalition (FMC) is a national membership organization that helps ensure that farmers markets succeed--today and tomorrow. They provide information, tools, and representation at state and federal levels as well as building networks and connect established and new farmers markets with resources for success.
To learn more about these two organizations please visit their websites - at wholesomewave.org AND farmersmarketcoalition.org.
Run through the speakers on the agenda- quick bio
We are going to have a Q&A at the end, so please feel free to ask questions throughout the webinar. You’ll see a box to the right side of your screen with a blue bar for Questions. Please be sure to type questions into the QUESTION box, Not the Chat box. Feel free to type questions throughout the presentation and we’ll try to get to as many as possible at the end.
And this webinar will be recorded and we’ll send out the PPT deck for future usage after the webinar along with some helpful resources.
We wanted to share a little info on your fellow attendees.
We have over 200 people from 42 states on this webinar, which is fantastic.

Farmers Market – meet USDA definition of farmers market: A multi-stall market at which farmer-producers sell agricultural products directly to the general public at a central or fixed location, particularly fresh fruit and vegetables (but also meat products, dairy products, and/or grains) & answer 3 questions:
Do you meet USDA FM definition?
Did your market accept SNAP in 2013 season?
Have you been authorized to accept SNAP by USDA?
Farmer – meet USDA definition of direct-marketing farmer: Individual producers of agricultural products & answer three questions:
Do you sell at a farmers market (see definition above)
Do you participate in a market where SNAP is not accepted?
Are you already authorized to accept SNAP?
Both: cannot have been SNAP authorized prior to November 2011.
Registration is NOT the same as authorization.
