The Menomonie Theater Guild is Menomonie’s oldest
community theater organization. Founded in part to
restore the Mabel Tainter after a many-year closure, the
Menomonie Theater Guild has been instrumental in
uniting actors, directors, musicians and a score of other
creative minds for over fifty-five years. Shows are
prepared and tickets sold at the Menomonie Theater
Guild Studio. It is the mission of the Menomonie
Theater Guild to produce plays for community
enjoyment, to provide dramatic recreating for its
participants and to perpetuate and extend the ideals and
objectives of community theater. This organization will
also encourage the preservation of the Mabel Tainter
building as a historic, authentic and cultural institution.
Menomonie Theater Guild
Winter 2015
Hello!
This newsletter is aimed at keeping you, the members of the
Menomonie Theater Guild community, updated as to what’s been
happening and what’s coming up in the future. In it are reports on
our finances, our current activities, and lists of volunteer
opportunities and items we need. Please review these opportunities
to involve yourself with the guild and to join us in making magic!
Finance update: early last summer we realized we had for several
years been spending more than we were taking in and had created
a debt of around $35,000. As you may know, we eliminated our
executive director position and reduced our overhead significantly
and began to draw heavily on the volunteer efforts of the executive
committee of the board of directors to keep the organization
functioning. With the combination of gifts from many of our
member donors, excellent ticket sales, and operational cost
reductions, we have created a budget for the year that will leave us
operating “in the black” and allow us to begin to pay off the debt
we have been accruing. Stay tuned for more details on this at the
annual meeting in May.
We thank you for your generous gifts of time and financial support.
We invite you to email us with any questions, suggestions, kudos or
complaints you may have to help us do our job better. We hope to
see you at our remaining two productions “Into the Woods” and
“Little Women.”

Into the Woods Cast Photo Credit: Dyan R. Larson Photography
OUR Production of into
the woods is coming along
very well. Volunteers have
stepped up to make costumes,
gather materials, build sets,
produce items for publicity,
make musical contributions,
design sound, do hair, and
many other tasks. And our
hard-working board has
been so helpful! It’s like
watching the message of the
play in action: “no one is
alone.” the journey of
producing this play is not
an easy one since this play
is lengthy and challenging.
But it will all be worth
the effort. We are growing
so much as we discover
things about the play and
the audience will make many
discoveries about themselves
as well as thoroughly
enjoying the talents of some
amazing artists.

Little Women– Auditions
Share this timeless and enduring classic about the March sisters’ journey
from childhood to maturity during the American Civil War. Audiences of
all generations will enjoy acquainting - or reacquainting– themselves
with the sisters: Meg, the romantic; Jo, the aspiring writer and tomboy;
kindhearted Beth; and pretentious Amy, as well as their beloved
Marmee. Together the March family learns to endure good times and
bad as they share the joys and pains of growing up.
Audition Dates: March 9th & 10th from 6-8pm at the MTG Studio.
Performance Dates: May 8th– May 17th
Make Friends… Find Your True Love
at MTG!
Making friends across the
community, on stage and back
stage is at the heart of the MTG
experience. Cactus Flower, 1975,
brought together a wild and winning
group of actors– Mary Riordan,
Warren Lang, Barbara Burdick,
Chris Leubner, Judy and Loren
Gifford are a few from that production. Who knew, certainly not the rest of the
cast, that Judy Mitchell and Loren Gifford were falling in love?! Maybe director
Karin Falkofske saw the chemistry, proving that directors can change your
destiny. Since then, Judy served on the MTG board and Loren acted in
several more MTG productions. It truly was MTG magic!
