Fox and Grapes Animation Music Choices
1. Your name: Edward Tangel
Animation Title: The Fox and the Grapes
Musical genre selection(s) & reason:
I decided to go with bright music that had a hint of determination because the fox
is determined to get these grapes. The music genres present throughout this
short are new age, easy listening, corporate, news, and comedy & cartoon. The
music intensifies as the attempts become more and more dangerous. The bright
tones and undertone of determination make it feel like a comedic children’s short.

Song Title: Gone Camping

Songwriter(s): American Music Co
How music fits scene/affects audience: The first thing that made me choose this
song was the title. The first scene opens into a forest landscape with the fox and
the squirrel. The song is bright and creates a feeling of comfortability and sets
the audience up for the adventure to come.
Scene 2 (description): This scene starts with the fox noticing the grapes being
just out of reach. He then takes a couple simple minded attempts to retrieve the
grapes.

Song Title: Bottom Dollar

Songwriter(s): Ron Burns
How music fits scene/affects audience: “The Bottom Dollar” was the right choice
for this scene because it starts out the action. The beginning of the song helps
show the importance of the grapes to the fox. As the song goes along, it stays
bright and simple to show the simpler things the fox uses to try to retrieve the
grapes.
Scene 3 (description): This scene is where things get a little more dangerous.
The fox’s attempts to retrieve the grapes include heavy machinery.

Song Title: World View Bumper 01

Songwriter(s): Giovanni Lodigiani
2. How music fits scene/affects audience: The song presents a feeling of
determination, making the audience feel just how badly the fox wants the grapes.
As he tries harder and harder, the song intensifies to show the effort being put in.
It quiets down at the end to make the audience think that it may be the end.
Scene 4 (description): As you would think the fox may give up, he pulls out a gun.
Things get even more out of this world as he uses magic and eventually drops a
bomb on the tree holding the grapes.

Song Title: World Watch Bumper 3
URL: https://westarmusic.sourceaudio.com/#!details?id=6859744
Songwriter(s): Giovanni Lodigiani
How music fits scene/affects audience: This music is just a little more intense
than the last to try to show the change in danger compared to the previous
attempts. The song is meant to make the audience feel like he is trying harder
than ever before.
Scene 5 (description): After the bomb attempt seems to fail, the fox starts to
accept defeat and sits under the crisply burnt tree. As soon as he sits, he looks to
his side and there they are! The grapes! He is so excited that he wants to
document this monumental moment and tapes himself diving on the grapes but
ends up not being quick enough.

Song Title: Sad Clown Waltz
URL: https://westarmusic.sourceaudio.com/#!details?id=22184025
Songwriter(s): Julio Kladniew
How music fits scene/affects audience: The “Sad Clown Waltz” falls perfectly
after the failed bomb attempt because it makes the audience feel how sad the fox
is. The intense music has stopped and so have the attempts. This song really
helps the audience feel the defeat. The song continues through him finding the
grapes finally on the ground because, although the audience doesn’t quite know
it yet, he will still not end up with the grapes.
Scene 6: (description): Back comes the previously kicked bunny to steal the
grapes. The fox is defeated and left pondering what he could have done
differently.

Song Title: The Great Beyond
URL: https://westarmusic.sourceaudio.com/#!details?id=29852459
Songwriter(s): Patrick Smith (BMI)
How music fits scene/affects audience: “The Great Beyond” is almost angelic
sounding. It represents the end of the short. It doesn’t quite have a defeated tone
to it; however, it has tone as if someone was saying “nice try”. The fox has
accepted defeat and so has the audience.
