School trips are an incredible opportunity for young minds
that are constantly seeking information, experiences, and
acquiring knowledge. In our experience, when these young
minds go beyond the classroom, they cement and build
upon curricular subjects and lessons. Outdoor learning
helps the students develop a more holistic understanding
of themselves, their skills, their curriculum, and how all this
ultimately relates to the development of the world.
Queen Mary’s School, Tis Hazari, is committed to create a
vital link between learning in the classroom, the students’
inner lives, and the world at large. The pages that follow are
representative of the aim of our institution, which is to take
teaching beyond the walls of the classroom into the freedom
of outward exploration and creativity.
We chose this particular program to Uttarakhand for its unique
approach to understand the chief historical and cultural
aspects besides its special focus on wildlife conservation. We
visited several places including Naini Lake and Jim Corbett
National Park.
Helping us to organise and implement this journey was
a company that specialises in student education travel.
EdTerra Edventures brings over ten years of experience of
having helped over 30,000 students learn from the diversity
of our planet. We are happy to state the success of this
collaboration stemmed from a deep alignment of EdTerra
Edventures vision with our own. We seek to make our students
global citizens who actively understand and contribute to the
United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Further, from
EdTerra’s travel curriculum and to develop 21st Century Skills
amongst millennial students, we opted for Student Media
Projects especially EdTerra’s Travel Journalists Program.
This magazine — Students Travel Chronicle (Jim Corbett –
Nainital) is a product of our students’ concerted teamwork to
write and collect their journey experiences and impressions
in a comprehensive manner. We hope you will enjoy reading
this Chronicle and have valuable points to take away from
students’ experiences.
Finally, we at Queen Mary’s School, Tis Hazari would like to
acknowledge our teachers. The success of this journey is only
possible with their responsible and informed efforts. We also
thank our parents, who remain our most fervent partners and
collaborators for the education of all the students who study
and work together.

Our trip to Nainital and Jim Corbett was a great success and a lot of fun as all the students and the teachers got to be
together and learnt numerous things from each other. It was a great experience to explore and know about nature and
wildlife. Nainital’s Mall Road is famous for its candles. There we enjoyed shopping and came across some of the most
beautiful and majestic scenic views.
On the first day, we visited the holy Garjia Temple where we sought blessings of the goddess. This was followed by
a blissful walk in nature along the riverside. Second day was filled with many adventures and a lot of excitement. We
visited Nainital’s Mall Road and went to a food joint with our friends. We went boating. It was quite peaceful and tranquil.
There were various gift shops and antique shops that offered a wide variety of attractive products. We had a lot of fun
during our jeep ride to and from Nainital. The weather was quite pleasant and it contributed in enhancing the aura of
that place.
On our last day, we went for a jungle safari early in the morning. With such a setting around us, our curiosity to spot an
animal grew more and more. We were very patiently waiting to see an animal and fortunately were able to witness deer.
Also, the open jeep ride was very soothing and refreshing. We were able to connect to nature, which was the best part
of the safari. Overall, the journey proved to be quite beautiful for all of us as it provided us with a tremendous amount of
exposure, experience and some great memories. The people who guided us throughout the journey were very helpful as
they assisted us in developing a lot of skills.

Jim Corbett was very interesting because we got to see the animals and lovely nature. We had a great time there. The
jackal we saw was injured near its eye. We felt so pitiful. We just wanted to talk to the jackal and ask it to take care of
itself and wanted to show some love to it.
It was so much fun to be at Jim Corbett National Park. As we are nature lovers, we loved it there. Seeing mountains gave
us so much relief. We felt peaceful and calm at Jim Corbett. The two deer we saw were looking beautiful and healthy. We
really enjoyed the safari rides. The breeze there was also fresh and cool. There was a lot of poop from the animals that
we could see on the roads.

HISTORY OF JIM CORBETT NATIONAL PARK
09
We discovered that Kosi river is a perennial
river that serves the wildlife at Jim Corbett
National Park
Project Tiger was launched in 1973 to
protect the tiger population from poaching
We posed next to the Naini Lake, the centre of
attraction of this amazing hill town, Nainital
The Jim Corbett Park is India’s oldest natural
sanctuary and spread over an area of 497
square miles

Jungle safari was a great experience. We got to see many rare animals like hornbill and birds like kingfisher, woodpecker,
jackal, etc. Also, the jeep ride was a lot of fun. Everyone should visit the Jim Corbett National Park as it has abundant
flora and fauna, and a good population of bird species. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see tigers and leopards but we saw
their footprints and some other animals also.
During the jungle safari we felt really cold as Jim Corbett National Park is a deciduous forest with teak and other trees. A
safari allows you to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It provides a change of landscape. Since we went on a
safari in the morning, we felt the morning breeze that pervaded the jungle. It made the flowers and leaves do tango with
a rhythm and finesse as if they were experts. Sounds like insects’ buzz, frogs’ croak, birds’ chirp, mammals’ scuttle and
bats’ click saturated the forest. Environment in the jungle safari was very peaceful and gave us positive energy and good
vibes. Finally, we would like to say that safari is an adventurous ride that gives an opportunity to explore the unexplored
trails. So, everyone should visit jungle safari at least once in their lifetime.

Firstly, we want to mention the mountains that we saw on our drive. We had a lot of fun. Due to the air pressure, it felt
like one of our friends went deaf. We learnt about how change in elevation can be felt in the ears. Our driver was talkative
and kept us engaged throughout the journey.
After all this, we went to the temple and then went shopping. Then we walked a long way to reach Domino’s. Two of
our very responsible and smart friends left their shopping bags at Domino’s but thanks to team EdTerra, we got our
bags back and saved our money from going down the drain. We also went paddle-boating and it was so much fun. We
never thought that paddle boating could be this much fun. We even took a small stroll around the lake, had candy floss,
made a lot of boomerangs and finished our meal. And of course we can’t ignore the weather and the view. If we were to
complement Nainital’s view, we’d say that it was ravishing and breathtaking. It is the perfect definition of ‘pleasing the
eye’.

Jim Corbett National Park is an exquisite place of attraction in India where tourists visit in large numbers from all over
the world to explore nature. This is a remarkable place where you can spot endangered animals, find attractive fauna and
flora and experience pleasant weather, great peace and much more. Everyone should visit Jim Corbett National Park as
it has a good population of bird species and is quite famous for fishing or angling tours.
Jim Corbett has the glory of being one of India’s oldest and most prestigious national parks. It is also the place where
Project Tiger was launched in 1973. The magical landscape, the sight of tigers, elephants and other varied wildlife can
be fascinating to visit. The park is famous for Royal Bengal tigers and Asian elephants. The park has five ecotourism
zones namely Dhikala, Jhirna, Bijarani, Durgadevi and Dhela. The park also has many migratory birds. Apart from tigers,
Jim Corbett also has leopards. Other mammals such as Jungle Cat, Barking Deer, Sambar Deer, Spotted Deer or Chithal,
Sloth Bears, Himalayan Black Bears, Baboons, Rhesus Macaques, etc. are also found here. The best thing about being
in Corbett is that there is never a dull moment at this place. Once you are done with exploring the park, you can head
towards other interesting places like Garijia Temple, Sunrise Point, Sitabani Temple, Maggie points etc. Jim Corbett
National Park offers a lot of scenic beauty and here we were provided with an interesting history of the region. The
wonderful and unique villages around the park are definitely worth a visit.

In our experience, when these young minds go beyond the classroom, they cement and build upon curricular subjects and lessons. The pages that follow are representative of the aim of our institution, which is to take teaching beyond the walls of the classroom into the freedom of outward exploration and creativity. We chose this particular program to Uttarakhand for its unique approach to understand the chief historical and cultural aspects besides its special focus on wildlife conservation. We visited several places including Naini Lake and Jim Corbett National Park. Helping us to organise and implement this journey was a company that specialises in student education travel. EdTerra Edventures brings over ten years of experience of having helped over 30,000 students learn from the diversity of our planet. We are happy to state the success of this collaboration stemmed from a deep alignment of EdTerra Edventures vision with our own. We seek to make our students global citizens who actively understand and contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Team Members Ahana, Ananya, Chaitanya, Diya, Lavanya G., Lavanya M., Mahi, Muskan, Neha, Safia, Samridhi Sharma & Yanya Our trip to Nainital and Jim Corbett was a great success and a lot of fun as all the students and the teachers got to be together and learnt numerous things from each other. It was a great experience to explore and know about nature and wildlife. Nainital’s Mall Road is famous for its candles. There we enjoyed shopping and came across some of the most beautiful and majestic scenic views. On the first day, we visited the holy Garjia Temple where we sought blessings of the goddess. This was followed by a blissful walk in nature along the riverside. Second day was filled with many adventures and a lot of excitement. We visited Nainital’s Mall Road and went to a food joint with our friends. We went boating. It was quite peaceful and tranquil. There were various gift shops and antique shops that offered a wide variety of attractive products. We had a lot of fun during our jeep ride to and from Nainital. The weather was quite pleasant and it contributed in enhancing the aura of that place. On our last day, we went for a jungle safari early in the morning. With such a setting around us, our curiosity to spot an animal grew more and more. We were very patiently waiting to see an animal and fortunately were able to witness deer. Also, the open jeep ride was very soothing and refreshing. We were able to connect to nature, which was the best part of the safari. Overall, the journey proved to be quite beautiful for all of us as it provided us with a tremendous amount of exposure, experience and some great memories. The people who guided us throughout the journey were very helpful as they assisted us in developing a lot of skills. OUR JOURNEY 01.

Team Members Bhumika, Bushra, Harshleen, Himangi, Ishika, Jiya, Manika, Nitika, Priyanka, Sakshi, Tanisha & Vedika Jim Corbett was very interesting because we got to see the animals and lovely nature. We had a great time there. The jackal we saw was injured near its eye. We felt so pitiful. We just wanted to talk to the jackal and ask it to take care of itself and wanted to show some love to it. It was so much fun to be at Jim Corbett National Park. As we are nature lovers, we loved it there. Seeing mountains gave us so much relief. We felt peaceful and calm at Jim Corbett. The two deer we saw were looking beautiful and healthy. We really enjoyed the safari rides. The breeze there was also fresh and cool. There was a lot of poop from the animals that we could see on the roads. 02. HISTORY OF JIM CORBETT NATIONAL PARK
  • 9. 09 We discovered that Kosi river is a perennial river that serves the wildlife at Jim Corbett National Park Project Tiger was launched in 1973 to protect the tiger population from poaching We posed next to the Naini Lake, the centre of attraction of this amazing hill town, Nainital The Jim Corbett Park is India’s oldest natural sanctuary and spread over an area of 497 square miles HISTORY OF JIM CORBETT NATIONAL PARK
  • 10. Team Members Anushka, Asmita, Fabeha, Huda, Kashish, Lakshita, Manya Jain, Sara, Shrieen, Tanisha C & Vidhi Jungle safari was a great experience. We got to see many rare animals like hornbill and birds like kingfisher, woodpecker, jackal, etc. Also, the jeep ride was a lot of fun. Everyone should visit the Jim Corbett National Park as it has abundant flora and fauna, and a good population of bird species. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see tigers and leopards but we saw their footprints and some other animals also. During the jungle safari we felt really cold as Jim Corbett National Park is a deciduous forest with teak and other trees. A safari allows you to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It provides a change of landscape. Since we went on a safari in the morning, we felt the morning breeze that pervaded the jungle. It made the flowers and leaves do tango with a rhythm and finesse as if they were experts. Sounds like insects’ buzz, frogs’ croak, birds’ chirp, mammals’ scuttle and bats’ click saturated the forest. Environment in the jungle safari was very peaceful and gave us positive energy and good vibes. Finally, we would like to say that safari is an adventurous ride that gives an opportunity to explore the unexplored trails. So, everyone should visit jungle safari at least once in their lifetime. • 12. Team Members Afifa, Dakshita, Disha, Evnice, Haniya, Kunika, Mariyam, Riza, Roshnita, Samridhi Dhawan & Vishali Firstly, we want to mention the mountains that we saw on our drive. We had a lot of fun. Due to the air pressure, it felt like one of our friends went deaf. We learnt about how change in elevation can be felt in the ears. Our driver was talkative and kept us engaged throughout the journey. After all this, we went to the temple and then went shopping. Then we walked a long way to reach Domino’s. Two of our very responsible and smart friends left their shopping bags at Domino’s but thanks to team EdTerra, we got our bags back and saved our money from going down the drain. We also went paddle-boating and it was so much fun. We never thought that paddle boating could be this much fun. We even took a small stroll around the lake, had candy floss, made a lot of boomerangs and finished our meal. And of course we can’t ignore the weather and the view. If we were to complement Nainital’s view, we’d say that it was ravishing and breathtaking. It is the perfect definition of ‘pleasing the eye’. NAINITAL 04.
