Eco-technology to Increase
Nature’s Happiness Index
Engineering Design and Execution By :

3. • Inadequacy of urban local bodies in collection, conveyance, and treatment
of wastewaters generated in their notified areas.
• Poor implementation of pollution control laws in urban and industrial
sectors;
• Not only wastewaters but solid wastes are also disposed off near or in the
water bodies.
• Encroachment on flood plains of streams and rivers and basins of ponds &
lakes by developers, massive changes in cities watershed.
• Severe pollution of ground water near polluted rivers & lakes.
• Poor communities are exposed to various diseases due to chemical and
biological pollution especially the down stream of cities.
Issues of water pollution in urban areas of India
6. “Eco-technology is defined as an applied science that seeks to fulfill
human needs while causing minimal ecological disruption, by
harnessing and subtly manipulating natural forces to leverage their
beneficial effects” -Wikipedia

Water Restoration
What is Eco-Technology?
7. • Water bodies not just as suppliers of clean water and recipients of wastewater, but
more importantly as “ecosystems”.
• Nature has her own methods of dealing with problems and these methods have the
most optimal efficiencies. All our technologies have emerged from the recognition of
this fact.
• All growing cities need cost effective and less energy intensive treatment
methodology to control their pollution emanating from point and non-point sources.
• Eco-technological treatment systems are used for the treatment of polluted waters
from point (domestic/industrial units) and non-point sources (River, lake, streams
etc).
• The eco-technological treatment systems - vertical filtration systems for point
sources and horizontal filtration systems for non point sources, promise the result
with minimal electricity as compared to conventional aerobic or anaerobic treatment
systems.
Introduction to Eco-technologies
8. • Due Ecotechnological horizontal filtration system the pollutants from
the stream water decreases and automatically reduces the pollution
load on the conventional STP’s and ETP’s.
• Efficiency of the Conventional WTP’s and STP’s also increases.
• Due to this filtration system ground water recharge also increases.
• Soil scape filtration - Vertical eco-filtration system treats the
wastewater from the residential ,commercial areas ,this treated
water can reused ,ultimately reduces the per day water demand.
• As these technologies not require no chemicals, no machineries ,it is
cost effective.
• For the Smart city development the pollution level from the
environment should be decreases by using cost effective eco-
technologies.
Advantages of Eco-Technology
9. Living System in action for pollution treatment
• Expression of multi-species intelligence
• Supple and magnanimous as possible,
thus keeping away drastic and
irreversible consequences when
something wrong, unexpected happens
• When changes occur in the natural
systems due to external inputs,
biogeochemical cycles and food chains
are reorganized and balanced
• Emergence of a new dynamic order
suitable to the environmental changes
superimposed on it

Eco-Technological Solutions
12. • Ecological Health project and NOT an infrastructure project
• Revitalization of self-purification capacity of water body
• Conversion of single species or no life river or lake water body into
multispecies living water body
• Maximum use of nature’s own capital
• Minimization of monetary and manmade inputs like electricity,
machinery and chemicals
• Local Action for Global Issue of Climate Change

– Non-point Sources of Pollution
13. Green Bridges
The horizontal eco-filtration system
A grafting of ecological system to
treat the pollution flowing through
the streams and rivers
Ecological Solutions – Green Bridge System
14. • Green bridge System is the horizontal filtration system.
• Installed at polluted river, streams and lakes to reduce the pollutants .
• Nature purifies water by hydrological cycle. This system heavily impaired,
because of increase in pollutant in water bodies.
• This system increases the self purification capacity of water and reduces the
pollutants from the stream.
• This technology is an In-situ system which consist assortment of the natural
biological produce which used in the system to reduce pollution.
• Reduces pollution level at large extent.
• System proposes aerobic system.
• Ecologically corrected water increase in flora and fauna.
