6 helpful hints to avoid small talk SNAFUs
Six Simple Steps
The keys to successful small

talk are quite simple.
1 Ask
Poignant questions get people talking
about themselves – who doesn't love
talking about themselves and how
important they and their lives are.
2 Listen
Ask follow-up questions and refer to the
earlier conversations to when following-up
later.
3 Focus
Be present in the conversation and don't
let your mind drift while the person is
speaking.
4 Look
Convey confidence with eye contact and let
the speaker know you're listening and it also
makes you memorable when you follow-up.
5 Nod

Let the speaker know you are paying attention.
6 Exit Stage Left
When the conversation becomes
uncomfortable, it's alright to politely
disagree with the speaker.
