• Resilience: What’s more important than
falling down is getting back up again.
Failure should be celebrated and
embraced because if we can’t fail, we
don’t learn.
• Humor: What’s the point of any journey if
you can’t laugh a little along the way?
• Simplicity: Aesthetically and
strategically, I believe that more often
than not, simplest solution is the best
solution (*not necessarily the easiest
solution to implement)
• Creativity: There is no shortage of new
ideas, and I’m excited by the pursuit to find
them!
• Growth: Always look for opportunities to
learn and grow. Staying stagnant is not an
option in my book.

• Delegation. Sometimes I fall into an “if you want it done right, do it yourself”
mentality. If I sense this happening, I’ll ask for some nudging when it comes
to encouraging others to take on components of a project.
• Don’t say ‘yes’ so much. I like to lend my time and talents to others as
much as I can. Right now, I’m challenging myself to say ‘yes’ less often and
put my own oxygen mask on before assisting others.
• Know when to hit ‘complete’. I’m very detail-oriented and I’m always
looking for ways to make things even better. It helps when I have reminders
and hard deadlines so I don’t go overboard on perfecting a project.

• The next generation. I believe students today have more
promise, power, and potential than we often give them
credit for. They’re going to change the world for the better
and I want to do whatever I can to help them do that.
• Thought leaders and radical doers in the entrepreneurship
and education spaces like Russlyn Ali (XQ Institute), Geoffrey
Canada (Harlem Children’s Zone), Sal Khan (Khan
Academy), Ken Robinson, Ted Dintersmith (Most Likely to
Succeed), Justin Kan (entrepreneur & investor), and Robin
Arzon (my favorite spin class instructor).

• Be efficient. I often find that simple solutions are
the best solutions. I like to find ways to streamline
“shallow work” and spend the majority of my
time on thoughtful and challenging projects.
• Be creative and open to new ideas. I love to
come up with innovative solutions to problems,
and I thrive in a culture that celebrates that and
when others are doing the same.
• Be punctual. One of my biggest pet peeves is
when appointments don’t start on time or when
deadlines aren’t met without a fair warning.
• Be direct. I prefer to give and
receive feedback that is
respectful, but also direct and to
the point. Big fan of practicing
radical candor.
• Be fun! I place a huge value on
humor and not taking life too
seriously. There’s certainly a time
and a place to hold back, but
working with others who are
generally light-hearted and joyful
helps me do my best work.
My Vision for the Future
• Every student, upon graduation from high school, is confident in the face of
complexity & ambiguity; takes initiative in the face of opportunity; and is self-aware in
the face of diversity.
• The Carnegie Unit and seat time requirements are eliminated, in favor of a
widespread mastery-based approach to learning in schools.
• Bureaucratic and financial barriers for education entrepreneurs are drastically
reduced to drive innovative, positive change in the interest of promoting increased
equity and opportunity for our most marginalized students.
• Schools are student-centered, community-rooted hubs of limitless learning where
every child feels safe, loved, valued, empowered, and never wants to leave.

  • 3. My Values & Beliefs • Resilience: What’s more important than falling down is getting back up again. Failure should be celebrated and embraced because if we can’t fail, we don’t learn. • Humor: What’s the point of any journey if you can’t laugh a little along the way? • Simplicity: Aesthetically and strategically, I believe that more often than not, simplest solution is the best solution (*not necessarily the easiest solution to implement) • Creativity: There is no shortage of new ideas, and I’m excited by the pursuit to find them! • Growth: Always look for opportunities to learn and grow.   • 7. • Delegation. Sometimes I fall into an “if you want it done right, do it yourself” mentality. If I sense this happening, I’ll ask for some nudging when it comes to encouraging others to take on components of a project. • Don’t say ‘yes’ so much. I like to lend my time and talents to others as much as I can. Right now, I’m challenging myself to say ‘yes’ less often and put my own oxygen mask on before assisting others. • Know when to hit ‘complete’. I’m very detail-oriented and I’m always looking for ways to make things even better. It helps when I have reminders and hard deadlines so I don’t go overboard on perfecting a project.   • 8. Motivations • The next generation. I believe students today have more promise, power, and potential than we often give them credit for. They’re going to change the world for the better and I want to do whatever I can to help them do that. • Thought leaders and radical doers in the entrepreneurship and education spaces like Russlyn Ali (XQ Institute), Geoffrey Canada (Harlem Children’s Zone), Sal Khan (Khan Academy), Ken Robinson, Ted Dintersmith (Most Likely to Succeed), Justin Kan (entrepreneur & investor), and Robin Arzon (my favorite spin class instructor).

  • 10. How Best to Work with Me • Be efficient. I often find that simple solutions are the best solutions. I like to find ways to streamline “shallow work” and spend the majority of my time on thoughtful and challenging projects. • Be creative and open to new ideas. I love to come up with innovative solutions to problems, and I thrive in a culture that celebrates that and when others are doing the same. • Be punctual. One of my biggest pet peeves is when appointments don’t start on time or when deadlines aren’t met without a fair warning. • Be direct. I prefer to give and receive feedback that is respectful, but also direct and to the point. Big fan of practicing radical candor. • Be fun! I place a huge value on humor and not taking life too seriously. There’s certainly a time and a place to hold back, but working with others who are generally light-hearted and joyful helps me do my best work.

My Vision for the Future • Every student, upon graduation from high school, is confident in the face of complexity & ambiguity; takes initiative in the face of opportunity; and is self-aware in the face of diversity. • The Carnegie Unit and seat time requirements are eliminated, in favor of a widespread mastery-based approach to learning in schools. • Bureaucratic and financial barriers for education entrepreneurs are drastically reduced to drive innovative, positive change in the interest of promoting increased equity and opportunity for our most marginalized students. • Schools are student-centered, community-rooted hubs of limitless learning where every child feels safe, loved, valued, empowered, and never wants to leave.
