Consist of 2 words Anukta + Dravya.
Anukta = अन् + उक्ता
• Literary meaning- unsaid or unuttered.
• अनुक्त or नोक्त is a द्रव्य which is not included in
Ayurvedic pharmacopeia of India or not found in Ayurveda

• The term Anukta dravya means that the drugs ,which are
available in this universe, have to be studied for their
morphology on botanical lines and to give shastric (literary)
validation of identification on the lines of Ayurvedic
philosophic for conversion and utilisation .
Need
• Era of advancement in terms of new disease – Anukta
roga !!
• Paves a way to explore / discover new drugs
• Imp Medicinal plants - RET Status of species
• Ethnobotanical studies/ survey- helps understand/ explore
region specific plants + their folklore practices/ traditional
knowledge.
• In-Depth knowledge of drugs

Conclusion
• India due to its vastness and diverse flora and fauna brings a
wider role of studying new plants with the emergence of new
technology, need of herbal medicines – Thus we should look
forward for alternate source/ novel plants which are yet to be
explored and evaluate them with appropriate evaluation
methods.
• Expanding Pharmacopoieas  Knowledge.
• The incorporations of these into Ayurveda and therapeutics
would fill the gap in Ayurvedic Pharmacopia , where the
classical drugs are facing the problems of scarcity
Growth and Development are dynamic of nature.
• Explore the floras in the world.
अनेनोपदेशेन नानौषधधभूतं जगनत ककस्न्चद् द्रव्यमुपलभ्यते तां

• There is no material in the universe, which is not aushadha or
useless.
• Every material is used for one or the other purpose.
• Thus the importance of Anukta Dravya evaluation.
