President Bill Clinton signed the
ESIGN Act electronically. With
the passage of this bill, electronic
signatures and on-line contracts
gained legal acceptance.
On the 10th Anniversary of the passage of the ESIGN Act, two separate milestones
were achieved signaling the emergence of DocuSign as the industry leader.
Tom Gonser founded DocuSign
in 2003. The philosophy
behind DocuSign was to create
a digital platform with safe,
secure, and legally-binding
signatures that did not require
a paper and pen.
DocuSign hosted the ESIGN Summit with
former president Bill Clinton, the original
signer of the ESIGN Act.
In Washington DC, both the U.S. House
and Senate passed concurrent resolutions
declaring June 30th the official day of
National ESIGN Day.
