9. MADM : TOPSIS Technique
Multi Attribute Decision Making
• Approach Employed to Solve problems involving selection
from finite alternatives
• Involves both inter & intra attribute comparisons
Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Soln.
• Final Solution is chosen based on how close the solution is
to ideal solution and how far away from negative ideal
solution

12. Expert Opinion Survey
• MADM TOPSIS requires a weight to be
assigned to each parameter to arrive at a
result
• Expert Opinion Survey was conducted using
technique similar to Delphi Method
• Aggregates of values assigned by four expert
surveys were used from each application area
• Reasons for a parameter rating were
captured for application areas of the relevant
expert

23. Feature Insights
Photography & Filming
• Payload Capacity - This feature enhances the camera equipment
weight that can be carried which improves picture quality as
heavier equipment tends to be more sophisticated
• Telemetry Range- This feature allows a camera to take
panoramic shots at remote locations
Farming & Agriculture
• Dimension- This feature could be important to be able to spot
the drone when swarms are being used at a time
• Costing- Large scale use is dependent on economic viability since
overall margins in agriculture are low
24. Feature Insights
Hobby & Racing
• Weight- Since this application is battery intensive and the battery
is the heaviest part of the drone, a larger weight could mean
more burst power potential
• No. of Rotors- A larger number of rotors enhances feedback
control which may be useful for taking sharp turns during races
Mapping & Surveying
• Wingspan- While mapping sensor distance may be large in which
case a larger wingspan may be better to accommodate
• Telemetry Range- To produce useful data per run it is necessary
that a large area can be mapped in a single go which is only
possible if telemetry range is high
25. Feature Insights
Public Safety
• Time of Flight- This feature enhances the duration which means
lesser recharge cycles
• Telemetry Range- Point of care applications are more useful if
drone can be controlled from large distances

27. Innovative Application
• Choosing a brand new application
• Identifying corresponding key feature
• Using Key Features to give preference of
Drone from Database using MADM
28. Medicinal Supply in Disasters
Telemetry Range
Demands :
Weight
• Drone will be employed if accessibility is low and hence this
feature becomes important to allow further reach
• In case of a natural calamity like a storm or typhoon, it may be
necessary to enhance weight to allow drone to resist strong
winds
Payload Capacity
• Enhances ability to carry more supplies
29. Medicinal Supply in Disasters
Low Cost
Wants :
Large Dimension
High no. of Rotors
Large Wingspan
High Flight Time
