2. A little unsure about your next move after connecting with
recruiters at a career fair? This isn’t one of those “don’t call
us, we’ll call you” situations. Take the initiative and follow-up
with an email. But before you start writing, here’s 5 tips to
make your email stand out.

3. It’s a fine line that can be easy to cross. Begging for a job
while overselling yourself doesn’t make you an attractive
candidate. Instead, remind them of your interest in the
organization and give specific examples about how you’d
make a good fit.

4. Remind them of something specific you discussed at the
career fair. It’ll help them remember you, and you’ll get to
show off your listening skills. If they advised you on specific
next steps, let them know of your progress.

5. Details are good. But recruiters are busy, so keep it short.
Remember, it’s not a cover letter. You’re simply saying
thank you for the opportunity to meet, while reminding
them of what a great employee you could be. This really
shouldn’t take more than three short paragraphs.

6. This person may actually interview you (or become your
boss!) in the future. So no matter how casual your
conversation was at the career fair, be formal and polite.
No first names.

7. Not in that stalker kind of way. But ask for an opportunity to
chat some more about the organization, or maybe about a
project you may be working on that can be of interest.

8. Don’t take it personally. Sometimes
All the career advice recruiters are too busy to reply, but may
you need right here have you on their radar. Remember,
getting a job from networking can take
many touch-points.
