  1. 1. CLOUD COMPUTING SOFTWARE AS A SERVICE (SAAS) By: DEVASHISH GUPTA IT KIET
  2. 2. TABLE OF CONTENT :-  Introduction of Cloud Computing  Architecture of Cloud Computing  Basic Concepts  Deployment Model & Its Access Types  Service Models(SaaS, PaaS & IaaS)  Software As a Service  SaaS Architecture Stack  Architecting SaaS  Hosting  Multi – Tenancy  Data storage  Application
  3. 3. INTRODUCTION OF CLOUD & CLOUD COMPUTING :-  What is Cloud ......? Term cloud refers to a Network or Internet. In other words, we can say that cloud is something, which is present at remote location. It can provide services over network....  What is Cloud Computing......? Cloud computing refers to manipulating, configuring and accessing the application online. It offers online data storage, infrastructure and application.
  4. 4. ARCHITECTURE OF CLOUD COMPUTING Remote location Cloud users
  5. 5. ADVANTAGES OF USING CLOUD  Lower computer cost  Improved performance  Reduced software cost  Instant updates  No limitations about Storage  Device independence  Data reliability  Universal data access  Elasticity (Scalability)
  6. 6. DISADVANTAGES  Require internet connection all the time  Doesn't work well at low speed internet connection  Features might be limited  Stored data might not be secure
  7. 7. • Basic Concepts There are certain Services and Models Working behind the scene making the cloud computing feasible and accessible to end users. Following are the working models for cloud computing........ • Deployment Model • Service Model
  8. 8. DEPLOYMENT MODEL Deployment Model defines the types of access to the cloud....which can be of 4 types. • Public cloud – Public cloud allows System & Services to be easily accessible to the general public. It may be less secure due to its openness. • Private cloud - Private cloud allows system and services to be accessible within an organization. It offers extra security due to its private nature. • Community cloud – Community cloud allows system and services to be accessible for group of organizations. • Hybrid cloud – Hybrid cloud is the mixture of public cloud and private cloud. However, the critical activities are performed using private clouds while non-critical activities are performed using public clouds.
  9. 9. SERVICE MODEL Service Model are the reference model on which cloud computing is based. These can be categorized into three basic models of services as mentioned below....
  10. 10. Cloud Computing Service & Deployment Model
  11. 11. IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) IaaS is the delivery of technology Infrastructure as an on demand scalable service. IaaS provides access to fundamental resource such as physical machine, virtual machine, virtual storage etc.Properties : • Usually billed based on usage • Usually multi tenant virtualized environment • Can be coupled with managed services for OS and application support Some IaaS provider Companies
  12. 12. PaaS (Platform a Service) PaaS provides the runtime environment for applications development & deployment tools, etc. PaaS provides all of the facilities required to support the complete life cycle of building and delivering web applications and services entirely from the internet. Properties : • Usually billed based on usage • Usually multi tenant environment • Highly scalable multi tier architecture Some PaaS provider Companies
  13. 13. S. A. A S. (SOFTWARE AS A SERVICE)
  14. 14. SOFTWARE AS A SERVICE SaaS is an application delivery model, where in it is distributed by service provider on any webpage through any network as Internet. A client could purchase the service by going to vendor's website and SaaS is accessible through an API(application Programming Interface). What is SaaS ? A cloud storage API is an application program interface that connects a locally-based application to a cloud-based storage system, so that a user can send data to it and access and work with data stored in it. To the application, the cloud storage system is just another target device, like tape or disk-based storage.
  15. 15. FEATURES OF SAAS  Standardization of software - eventually customized for specific customers and market  Highly scalable architecture  License based on usage ("pay as you go" or subscription)  These services includes maintenance, support and upgrades  Data storage at the SaaS vendor  All services are web based
