Introduction
According to the father of Artificial Intelligence, John McCarthy, it is “The
science and engineering of making intelligent machines, especially
intelligent computer programs”.
Artificial Intelligence is a way of making a computer, a computer-controlled
robot, or a software think intelligently, in the similar manner the intelligent
humans think.
AI is accomplished by studying how human brain thinks, and how humans
learn, decide, and work while trying to solve a problem, and then using the
outcomes of this study as a basis of developing intelligent software and
systems.
Brief HistoryofAI
 1941: First electronic computer (technology finally available )
 1956: TermArtificial Intelligence introduced
 1960s: Checkers-playing program that was able to playgames with
opponents
 1980s: Quality Control Systems
 2000:First sophisticated walking robot
Computers are fundamentally well suited to performing mechanical computations, using fixed
programmed rules. This allows artificial machines to perform simple monotonous tasks
efficiently and reliably, which humans are ill-suited to. `
WHY AI?
 Object recognition. People cannot properly explain how they
recognize objects.
 Face recognition. Cannot be passed on to another person by
explanation.
 Naming of colours. Based on learning, not on absolute
standards.
Limitations of Human Mind.
Importance of AI
1). Game Playing
You can buy machines that can play master level chess for a few hundred dollars. There is some AI in them, but they play
well against people mainly through brute Force computation--looking at hundreds of thousands of positions. To beat a world
Champion by brute force and known reliable heuristics requires being able to look at
Million positions per second.
2). Speech Recognition
In the 1990s, computer speech recognition reached a practical level for limited purposes. Thus United Airlines has replaced its
keyboard tree for flight information by a system using speech recognition of flight numbers and city names. It is quite
convenient. On the other hand, while it is possible to instruct some computers using speech, most users have gone back to the
keyboard and the mouse as still more convenient.
3). Understanding Natural Language
Just getting a sequence of words into a computer is not enough. Parsing sentences is not enough either. The computer
has to be provided with an understanding of the domain the text is about, and this is presently possible only for very
limited domains.
4). Computer Vision
The world is composed of three-dimensional objects, but the inputs to the human eye and computers' TV cameras are
two dimensional. Some useful programs can work solely in two dimensions, but full computer vision requires partial
three-dimensional information that is not just a set of two-dimensional views.
5). Expert Systems
A ``knowledge engineer'' interviews experts in a certain domain and tries to embody their knowledge in a computer
program for carrying out some task. How well this works depends on whether the intellectual mechanisms required for
the task are within the present state of AI. When this turned out not to be so, there were many
disappointing results.
Features of Artificial Intelligence.
•Automation is one of the most touted features in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning. Being
able to automate the manual processes in your company will save you time and money. The AI framework you
put in place must be able to address different process automation tasks. To simplify the process, it has to be an
easy to use visual modeling exercise without the need for additional skills or labor
•Machine learning is in the news just as much as AI. This is because it is a subset of AI. But it requires good
data to make it work. By establishing what you want to do, identifying what is available (data), and knowing the
constraints, machine learning can start working on your problems. With these processes in place, machine
learning solutions can learn complex decision systems, find patterns and anomalies in data, raise alerts and much
more.
Advantages
1.More learning:
AI offers greater access for humans to human knowledge and individual learning; the elimination of language barriers
between peoples; and the elimination of meaningless and repetitive drudgery that reduces people to the status of, well,
robots.
2.Making our life easier:
Artificial intelligence has made our life easier by reducing the manual labour induced in that job. Whether is calculating,
ticket booking, and searching stuff online.
3.User friendly:
It uses basic directions to do complex task, and helps even differently abled to use it. Even if someone not used to typing
he may use the AI to make the work done, until he learns to use to a smartphone.
4.Will require less labour force:
AI will able to perform tasks requiring minimal logic in much faster and economical manner.
5. Error Reduction:
Artificial intelligence helps us in reducing the error and the chance of reaching accuracy with a greater degree of
precision is a possibility. It is applied in various studies such as exploration of space.
Disadvantages
1. AI is necessarily dehumanizing: In many dystopian scenarios, AI can be misused by some to control others, whether by
surveillance, robotic policing, automated “justice”, or an AI-supported command-and-control economy. These can certainly
be possible in future, but not vast majority of people would support it.
2. AI will necessarily increase inequality:
As it happened in case of industrial revolution, it is certainly possible that increased AI-based automation of work will
concentrate income and wealth in the hands of fewer and fewer people. We do, however, have a choice about how AI is
used.
3.AI will reduce jobs available for humans:
We humans are lazy people, we want our work to be reduced to minimum. So when AI technology is making our job so
easy, to get connected, talk setting up reminders or etc. we will trade human labor with machine as machine don't get tired
and deliver desired results always.
4. High Cost:
Creation of artificial intelligence requires huge costs as they are very complex machines. Their repair and maintenance
require huge costs.
Findings
1. AI Could Help Cut Costs
For organizations across a wide variety of industries and geographies, the estimated average cost of addressing potential cyber
exploits without AI is more than $3 million. Companies who are using AI, by contrast, spent an average of $814,873 on the
same threats.
2. AI May Minimize Data Breaches
When asked about the estimated likelihood of a data breach affecting more than 10,000 sensitive customer or consumer records
at their organizations, 40 percent of respondents estimated that the probability was greater than 20 percent if they didn’t leverage
AI technologies.
3. Organizations Plan to Increase AI Investment
Organizations expect to increase their investment in AI. As AI technology matures, investments will grow, according to 61
percent of respondents.
4. AI May Improve Productivity
Sixty percent of respondents were positive about the ability of AI bases security technologies to improve the productivity of
their IT security personnel.
Suggestions
As per the study it is found that in research AI can be both a boon and a bane to human kind,
and according to this research which is not that comprehensive to suggest anything but in a
short it can be said that AI should be used very carefully and in right manner to avoid any miss
happening in future. AI can be very useful to human race only if used with very care .
Objective of the Study.
The exploration of ethical, historical, social and cultural aspects of current business issues,
students have the opportunity to develop a well-rounded perspective that is valued in the global
environment of business.
In this report my topic is Artificial Intelligence: a boon or a bane . In this project we have to
show AI’s current presence in market.
We also have to show is it a boon or a bane to Human kind.
Methodology
It is well known fact that the most important step is define the problem . choose for investigation
because a problem well defined is half solved . that was the reason that at most care was taken
while defining various parameter of the problems . after giving thought brain storming session ,
objective were selected and the set on the base of these objective . a questionnaire was designed
major emphasis of which was gathering new ideas or insight so as determine and bind out
solution to the problem .
Conclusion
It seems that we are standing at the point on the timeline where it is really difficult to foresee the future of
humanity in the context of Artificial Intelligence. We always embrace new technologies which seemed to be
changing our way of living. However, the important fact here is that the kind of change we are embracing must
bring a positive outcome for the welfare of society and eventually of humanity. Artificial intelligence is the kind of
change which we certainly should not take for granted. However, whatever the case will eventually be, we
certainly need a legal policy framework which can make sure to mitigate the challenges associated with AI and
compensate the affected parties in case of a fatal error. Hence, I conclude that if we keep ignoring social bugs of
AI, it could be a serious threat to humanity.
Thank
You

  • 16. Conclusion It seems that we are standing at the point on the timeline where it is really difficult to foresee the future of humanity in the context of Artificial Intelligence. We always embrace new technologies which seemed to be changing our way of living. However, the important fact here is that the kind of change we are embracing must bring a positive outcome for the welfare of society and eventually of humanity. Artificial intelligence is the kind of change which we certainly should not take for granted. However, whatever the case will eventually be, we certainly need a legal policy framework which can make sure to mitigate the challenges associated with AI and compensate the affected parties in case of a fatal error. Hence, I conclude that if we keep ignoring social bugs of AI, it could be a serious threat to humanity.
