Concessions: Maintaining the tracking sheet. Doing the concession when required
RBI's: Assist with bulk data loading of Mechanical Info. Understand overhead schedule versus
mandate. Support reliability engineer & other disciplines
Projects: Perform the various tasks for each stage of the project
PRA's (Pipe Repair Approvals): Load notifications for drawings. Prepare any Pipe repair
approvals. Prepare the MOC for the PRA if required. Attend MOC meeting and present the
MOC. Discuss scope with Engineering contractor and assist with site walks.
Management of Change (MOC's): This is done for any modifications on the plant.
Statutory Maintenance: Create Future Look-ahead - 6 months. Continuously observe - Inform
foreman to execute. When Delay is required - Start 55 days in advance with request. Ensure
8 year look-ahead plan is aligned with budget plan
Maintenance Troubleshooting: If equipment is problematic and foreman cannot resolve.
Support foreman by going to site and check on problem. Study any datasheets or design data
to understand problem. Drive conclusion of requests and problems. Register incident &
perform RCA as required to capture intelligence.

Plant Care Engineer Carab Tekniva Group : Kriel
Carab Tekniva is a consulting Engineering company that is contracted by power stations, oil
refineries and mines.
I form part of a team of three; I am the engineer and also the team manager. Working in my
team is an Engineering Technician and a Data Technician/Draughtsman.
Part of my job is asset integrity management.
Key Activities:
Determine the operability and maintainability of system, and develop the life of plant taking
into account present status of plant.
Develop and maintain operating technical specifications, specific operating instructions /
operating set points, alarm response procedures and map work flow.
Responsible for engineering analyses of failure mechanism on boiler pressure parts
component when required.
Use root cause analysis techniques when required, this includes the contributory and direct
causes to carry investigations of failures in the plant.
Create plant maintenance philosophies and strategies.
Co-ordinate outage efforts between the inspection and repair contractor
Carab Tekniva Group is also responsible for the drawings on the plant and it is my
responsibility to ensure that these drawings are accurate and signed off.
I am also accountable for the Scope of Work given to repair contractor as well as an
inspection Scope of Work when the Unit is down for unplanned or planned shutdown.
3. When data is returned after inspection, it is my duty to make necessary recommendations for
reparations.
Use and fulfill engineering change management principles in SAP to document implemented
plant modifications.
Approve professional site drawings of all boiler components.
Boiler tube failure confirmation and shut down recommendations.
Develop and maintain the framework for verifications and validation of relevant system
modification, system interface requirements, system maintainability.
Do technical evaluations.
