10. 1. Get a Presence and Produce
Content
• Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and popular blog sites are the most
influential social media sites.
• Be on at least two of these!
• The more ACTIVE sites associated with your name = The higher your name ranks
11. 2. Your Name is Your Brand
• Use your name and Guaranteed Rate in the title of your Facebook account and
YouTube (John Smith at Guaranteed Rate).
• Make your Twitter handle your name.
• Customize your LinkedIn URL with your name
• Use the first person when describing your job or summary in LinkedIn and
Facebook.
• Customize your website links in LinkedIn to include your name and/or Guaranteed
Rate (Joe’s Guaranteed Rate Website, Smith’s Facebook)

• Add industry keywords throughout all of your sites.
• Tag as many relevant “Skills and Expertise” as possible in LinkedIn.

• Pick a small group of keywords to use in your postings. Do not use ALL of the

This includes things like: posting to your wall, liking your content, commenting on your content, sharing your posts, sharing content on your page, sharing or mentioning your page, or checking in with you.How can I see who is viewing my profile? (Put this answer on FB)You can only see who is viewing your profile if you let them see when you view theirs. To allow this, click “Settings” and select "See what others see when you've viewed their profile."

CSocial media does not help you if you open an account and then never use it. In fact, it can hurt you sometimes. If someone stumbles along one of your sites that you have not posted to in months or years, most people will assume that you no longer do business or that you cannot be reached.
DGoogle and Bing are now including Twitter conversations in search results. This means that if I search for the keyword phrase, “earthquake in California” I will see the latest real-time conversations about those keywords from twitter.Social Media sites are being indexed at a much higher frequency than the average site. For example, when I update my active public Facebook profile or fan page, search engines will pick up that change in at least an hour.
CPlease take the time to check each of these resourses. Pick one a day to look over and see if you can pick up something new.
