PHASE 1
Place: classroom
Time: 1 h
Objectives:
- to revise the previous year activities;
- to outline the 2nd year project’s theme “Me as
an engineer/architect in the Ideal town”;
- to develop democratic decision taking and
Starting from the work done in the previous
year (My Ideal Town/City), the teacher of
Technology introduces the 2nd year project’s
theme “Me as an Engineer/Architect in the
ideal town”, highlighting its principal aspects,
phases and main activities and asks students
to think about which aspects they would like
Students revise the previous year
activities and debate about the
practical realization of their ideal town.
They decide together which aspect of
the ideal town they want to develop,
making a model of it.
3. sense of initiative. to consider for the production of a model.
PHASE 2
Place: classroom
Time: 4 h
Objectives:
- to be aware of environment’s natural
resources useful for the ideal town;
- to be aware of re-cycling processes to exploit
them for the building of the ideal town;
The teacher of Maths (Science)and
Technology focus on environmental issues,
natural resources and recycling processes and
materials.
Students research individually on Internet
about the issues proposed and debate in
group about the most relevant aspects to
consider for the creation of their Ideal
Towns’ models.
PHASE 3
Place: classroom
Time: 2 h
Objectives:
- to project the structure/building chosen for
the ideal town;
- to develop students’ ability in planning;
- to develop students’ creativity
GROUPWORK
The teacher of Technology gives suggestions
for the planning of the work and divides
students into groups
GROUPWORK
Students, divided in groups, plan the
main phases of the construction of the
models. They decide which materials to
use.
PHASE 4
Place: classroom
Time: 3 h
Objectives:
- to develop students’ ability in using reduction
scales for practical purposes.
The teacher of Maths focuses on reduction
scales to help student consider the principles
of proportions for the realization of the
models.
Students make Math exercises about
proportions and reduction scales in
order to get an insight into a
fundamental principle for the
construction of models.
PHASE 5
Time: 15 h
Place: classroom
Objectives:
- to realize practically the chosen
The teacher of Art gives necessary materials
(plastic, cardboard, wood, paper,, etc….) and
instruments
Students make models using different
materials according to their projects
4. building’s/place’ s scale model;
- to develop students’ creativity.
PHASE 6
Place: Art Laboratory
Time: 4 hours
Objectives:
- to develop students’ creativity
The teacher of Art invites students to project
and to realize decorative elements to
complete and enrich their model from an
esthetical point of view.
Students draw the decorative elements
and build them for the projected model
PHASE 7
Place: computer room
Time: 6 h
Objectives:
To create a multimedial presentation of the work
The teacher of Technology coordinates the
work
Students create a multimedial product
about their work using ICT
ENGLISH The English teachers deals with the linguistic aspects of the project in all the phases to
document it, focusing on lexicon related to the construction of the model (recycling,
materials, plants, tools …). Students write comments to be inserted in the presentation of
their works to explain what they have done.
EVALUTATION Systematic evaluation during the project’s phases and final test
