1. • Project Rationale/Pitch Presentation
• The brief for this project is that I have been asked to create a
magazine front cover and an advertorial for Canon. My ideas for
the campaign is to combine nature and photography into the
front cover. I am thinking of including an image of a mountain
as my background, this will also fit in with the “Journey” side to
the brief basically saying you need to go on a journey to climb
up the mountain/media scene in the Canon industry. I think this
will be a successful campaign because it is including a journey
and it is something that has never been done before with the
Canon cameras. I believe that my ideas will fit the client’s needs
as I feel that I will focus on the needed target audience of 16- to
20-year-olds. I won’t include dark colours or complicated
terminology as it wouldn’t fit into the correct audience for the
brief. Young people would be less likely to be at a stage in their
training or careers that they would be knowledgeable about
more complex terms. Therefore, I will use bright and vibrant
colours within my product and I will also include terminology
young people would understand so it appeals to correct
audience. By including these, I do hope that my product will
catch the eyes of young people so they will be eager to invest in
the product.
6. These are the responses I received from my
audience survey. This shows that my audience
have a clear understanding of Canon and what
they are. This also shows that people do use
Canon cameras so there is already massive
supply of the cameras and a market of them.
This means I won’t need to do extra legwork
into explaining what Canon is and the products
that they produce.
How did
this
influence
your
ideas?
7. Subject research
• Brief info that you looked into for magazine covers
• Use some of the terminology we found the other day
8. My idea
CANON
IMAGE OF
CAMERA ALONE
IMAGE OF
MODEL
WITH
CAMERA
SLOGAN TO
PERSUADE
AUDIENCE TO
BUY THE
PRODUCT
MAIN IMAGE
OF LANDMARK
TO DESCRIBE A
“JOURNEY”
I have decided to place the
main title here as it is very
visible and would be the first
thing that pops out to the
audience when wanting to buy
the product
I have decided to include this
to show the audience what the
camera will look like. This will
give them a good idea of if
they’d want to buy it or not.
I have decided to place this
here due to it being a
persuasive comment in the
magazine as it will catch the eye
immediately. This will also
hopefully intrigue the audience
to learn more.
I have decided to include this
as it will give the audience a
good idea of which landmarks
they could potentially travel to
and take photos with the
Canon camera.
I have decided to
include an image
of a male using
the Canon
camera and they
will be side-on
taking an image
from afar.
9. CANON Feedback and Reflection
The feedback I was given on the pitch is that it was very detailed and there was thorough research made
into the Canon product. There was a lot of thought gone into the target audience and what they desire.
Also, a good analysis was made of how products were presented in a way to attract the target audience.
This has influenced my idea for my final product as it will now give me a very good understanding of
which things i need to inclu
