2. Pre-game
Dealing with confrontation
• There will always be players, coaches or fans that do not agree
with an officials’ call
• That’s OK, and part of the game and the roles therein
• There always needs to be respect for each role and person on the
field
• The ramp is a way to deal with confrontational coaches, players
and other team personnel

3. Pre-game
The ramp
• Start with a verbal warning
• “Coach, that’s enough, let’s play”
• Restart play quickly (if play was dead)
• If situation continues, give a verbal warning of impending foul:
• “I’ve warned you twice now, next time will be a yellow card
for unsportsmanlike conduct”
• If situation continues:
• Call the unsportsmanlike conduct foul and give the card
• Never give a warning more than twice, enforce the limit!
