1. Language register
A variety of different magazines use different style of writing
and language in order to suit their reader. This is on the
basis that by adapting language to an audience, it enables
the audience to relate to what they are saying so that the
text appeals to them, making the individual more likely to
purchase the magazine. Some magazines such as the
‘ACUMEN’ use more advanced language for their articles
which will appeal to the older audience, this is on the basis
that an older audience will be more likely to understand and
enjoy more advanced language on the basis that they’re
more likely to know what it means. Another example of a
more well-known and modern magazine that does this is Q
Magazine. In contrast, the NME Magazine tends to appeal to
many different audiences throughout their texts because
their language uses current terminology and focuses on new
bands and upcoming bands. Similarly, in my magazine I
intend to use more general, with up to date wording to
appeal to my younger audience. As I’m going to cater my
magazine to this audience type, as I believe- as part of a
younger audience- I will be more able to do so.
