Traditional data dashboards are report based, quantitative in nature and are not suited for top level management.

What businesses need are business dashboards that tell the business story, puts the story into strategic context, Show strategic alignment, populate it with timely and adequate information to take decisions. Business dashboards show how everything relates to the higher level plan that the CXO wants to execute.

This presentation differentiates between traditional data dashboards and business dashboards.
