Business strategies are easy to copy now that information, knowledge, people, skills, and money move freely and rapidly across the globe. In many
markets, today’s unique strategic weapon is tomorrow’s universal entry ticket. So if strategy is no longer a reliable way to acquire a competitive edge
over the long term, what can a company do to set itself apart from the pack? The answer is to develop a strong performance culture – something that
competitors will be unable to replicate quickly. By adopting an approach that combines pragmatic business sense with problem-solving rigor and
behavioural insight, companies can bring about a cultural shift that not only delivers better bottom-line results but also creates a more fulfilling
working environment for employees at all levels.
But culture doesn’t always produce great results. In fact, when Bain & Company surveyed more than 400 senior executives from large, global
companies in 2013, they found that fewer than one in four felt that culture was very effective in supporting business performance at their company.
The majority felt that their organization’s culture was largely disconnected from what it took to win. Why this disconnect?
Building and Sustaining a High Performance Culture
Theme Introduction
Too many companies think of culture as a way to make people feel good about where they work
and not as a way to help employees — hence the organization — perform better. High-performing
companies think about culture differently. They know that winning cultures aren’t just about
affiliation; they are also unashamedly about results.
Culture plays a vital role in performance. Winning cultures treat performance as an explicit output
and foster an environment that is conducive to generating the best possible results — not just for
employees, but for customers, suppliers, and, yes, even shareholders.
Workplace2020 16th HR Leaders Roundtable will facilitate a discussion on the following:
• Understanding key elements of building a high performance culture.
• Building an high performance culture within multigenerational teams.
• War for Talent – Large Enterprises loosing talent to start-ups? What’s the answer?
• How will the organization structure and communication reshape in the future work?
• Innovative people practices for building high performance culture at workplace
