4. ➢ Understanding the amount of resources utilised in producing meat
➢ Why it is a crime against humanity
➢ How it causes pollution of Streams, Rivers and the Coastal Ocean
➢ Greenhouse Gas Emissions and deforestation
➢ Sustainability of Living Marine Resources
➢ The terrible conditions under which animals live
➢ Why being vegan is healthy for you
➢ Why is this information was concealed
➢ More about this….
8. To save 2,500 gallons of water you can
Not take a shower for 1 month OR
Cancel the next 15 car washes OR
Not use 750 sheets of paper OR
OR
Choose to not eat a pound of meat
9. Using nearly the same amount of resources, we
can either feed 10 vegetarians or 1 non-vegetarian
Nearly 70 billion animals are raised
annually for food. If we can feed 70 billion
animals, why can’t we feed 1/10th the
number of humans ?
Source: UN survey https://faunalytics.org/global-animal-slaughter-statistics-and-
charts/
10. Do you know?
An american eats 3 times more meat than the global average. In a lifetime, an average
american will consume the equivalent of 11 cows, 27 pigs and 2400 chickens. These are
the number of animals slaughtered to keep 1 human alive !
11. Depletion of resources and pollution of Streams,
Rivers and the Coastal Ocean
➢ 25% of rivers around the world no longer reach the oceans because
of the tremendous amount of water being pumped out and used for
irrigating fodder crop
➢ Rising sea levels will affect 300 million by 2050 and submerge
certain areas in coastal regions
➢ Every minute, 7 million pounds of animal excreta is produced. This is
enough to cover SF, NYC and Tokyo. Needless to say most of this
goes into water bodies.
12.
13.
14. A quick offshoot: An additional reason
why it isn’t sustainable in the long run.
15.
16. The Corn that is grown to feed
livestock is embedded with
nitrogen compound fertilisers.
Animals fed with these crops
have higher body mass. But
these fertilisers damage the
quality of soil and require
excessive irrigation. The
chemicals leach into water
bodies and destroy the local
ecosystem.

18. Large increases in global fertilizer
use are driven in part by increases in
grain production (e.g., corn and soy)
needed to support an ever growing
increase in global meat consumption.
Growth in global meat consumption is
outpacing human population growth
because of increases in per capita meat
consumption in developing countries.
Increased Meat Production is a
Large Driver of Increased
Fertilizer Use
19.
20. Greenhouse Gas Emissions and
deforestation
➢ Animals in the US alone produce 50 times more waste than
humans
➢ The gases from this waste have the potency to trap heat 25 times
more effectively than vehicular emissions
➢ We lose 1 acre of forest per second on an average
➢ Nearly 80% of deforestation in major meat consuming countries
is to create more space to grow fodder
➢ 91% of the destruction of the amazon rainforest can be
attributed to the meat industry
21. Toxic gases
1. Methane Release
• ruminant digestion
• manure decomposition
2. Carbon dioxide release
• deforestation for agricultural land use
3. Nitrous oxide release
• crops subjected to heavy fertilizers
22. Sustainability of Living Marine Resources
➢ It is estimated that our oceans will be fishless by 2048
➢ For portion of edible fish, nearly 5 times the amount of “ By-kill”
i.e inedible fish is killed and simply dumped in the ocean
➢ Farm raised fish grow up eating corn, soy feed, animal and human
faeces. This is nothing like their natural diet. As a result they have
50% less Omega 3, protein, calcium and iron. These fish have a
high risk of disease and parasitic infestation and are loaded with
antibiotics.
23.
24. According to the FAO,
82% of all the major ocean
fisheries are either at their
limits or are overfished
One of the most striking
trends of the past two
decades has been the rise
of aquaculture, which now
provides about 46% of
global fish production
Overall wild captured biomass has leveled off since the 1990s at about 85
million tons.

25. 90% Decline in the Top Predator Fish Abundance in the
World Oceans between between 1955 and 2000
Each graph depicts the
number of top predator
fish (e.g., tuna &
swordfish) caught per
100 hooks set by the
global fishing fleet
This is a good proxy
indicator for fish
abundance
31. 13.6 million kilograms of antibiotics are
used for livestock in the United States
per year, to prevent the spread of
diseases despite the unhygienic
conditions of crowded factory farms. The
amount is nearly four times the quantity
of antibiotics sold annually for human
consumption.
32.
33.
34. Why is this information was concealed?
The influence of industry lobbyists has skewed federal nutritional guidelines,
which advise eating more meat than what science actually advises.
35.
36.
37. Switching to a Vegetarian Vegan Diet lifestyle will impact:-
➢ Environment
➢ Your finances
➢ Health
➢ Hunger crisis
➢ Animal cruelty
➢ Land usage and water bodies
38. Cowspiracy: The
Sustainability Secret is a
2014 documentary film
which explores the impact of
animal agriculture on the
environment, and
investigates the policies of a
few environmental
organizations on this issue.
What the Health is a 2017
documentary film which
critiques the health
impact of meat, fish, eggs
and dairy products
consumption, and
questions the practices of
leading health and
pharmaceutical
organizations. Its primary
purpose is to advocate for
a plant-based diet.
Presented by James Cameron, Arnold
Schwarzenegger, Jackie Chan, Lewis
Hamilton, Novak Djokovic and Chris
Paul — a revolutionary new film about
meat, protein and strength.
