the name Tahu Tek originated from a
traveling salesman who cut tofu and rice cake
using scissors. When it is cut it reads “tek, tek,
tek” so this tofu is called tofu tek. This dish
contains lontong cut into small pieces with a
mixture of fried tofu and given petis sauce.
Petis is a condiment made from boiled fish or
shrimp and spices that are mixed until it
thickens into a sauce.
TAHU TEK
Sego Sambel or in Indonesian is chili rice,
which is one of the foods that the people of
Surabaya are interested in. This menu serves
a spicy taste from chili sauce and selected
spices. For one serving of sego sambel, you
will get warm rice complete with a choice of
side dishes such as fried tempeh, fried tofu,
omelet, shredded fried chicken to fish. The
sambal mixture is made of garlic, shallots,
chilies, tomatoes, salt and shrimp paste.
SEGO SAMBAL
The famous food from the City of Heroes
consists of rice cake, bean sprouts, fried tofu,
lentho, fried onions, soy sauce and chili sauce.
How to serve it is also easy, sliced lontong
and on top of sliced lontong given pieces of
fried tofu and squeezed some lentho. Then
the half-cooked bean sprouts are added,
which has the largest portion in the dish, then
given enough sauce, fried onions, chili sauce
and soy sauce. It is called lontong racing
because the seller used to run fast like he
was running a race
LONTONG BALAP
Rawon is famous for its distinctive color and
taste. Black gravy and tender meat are the
mainstay of the menu. Rawon is made from
beef cooked with kluwek sauce. Kluwek is the
seed of the plant that makes the gravy and
flesh black in color. Besides meat, in rawon
there are several mixtures such as bean
sprouts, cucumber, chili sauce that produce a
savory and spicy taste.
RAWON
Rujak Cingur is served with side dishes, rice
cake, bean sprouts, kale, fried tofu, fried
tempeh and cingur. But there is also
pineapple, young mango, yam and cucumber.
Cingur is the snout of a cow.
