2. Existing Product - Broforce
Broforce takes place in a fictional world that is plagued with evil, you
play as the a ‘Bro’ which is a hyper-masculine action hero usually
from a film or TV show, then the game developers change the
characters name to include the word bro in it such as a John McClane
inspired character called Bro Hard, or a Mr. Anderson inspired one
called Mr. Anderbro. Each bro that the player can play has as
different weapons such as Rambro who has a gun as his main
weapon but then he has a grenade as his special ability, whereas
Indiana Brones mainly uses his whip and his special ability is his gun.
The levels are all different as they take place in the world at different
places so they all look different such as one level could have the blue
sky behind it but then another could have a red tint to it changing
the mood of the level.
The art style of the game is very over exaggerated as it is a
theme of the characters and the voices, the sound in the
game is very exaggerated as the voices are just like the
characters and are hypermasculine. The game appeals to its
audience as it is not a very serious game and it is more of a
fun game to play and enjoy and not take too seriously, the
game modes include LAN, Singleplayer or Online
Multiplayer. The main draw of the game is the LAN option
as it gives players the option to gather their friends and play
together just like might have done in the past with older
games consoles such as the Playstation 1.
3. Existing Product – Super Time Force
Super Time Force is a side scrolling action game that is similar to
Broforce except one major thing, when you die in the game you go
back in time to a safe point and then you switch character but still
play with the ghost of your past run until you died and your mission
is to keep yourself alive and you get this chance a couple of times,
this gives the game a very interesting mechanic where when you
die you don’t get annoyed because you failed the level, you get to
keep playing but with yourself. In addition to this players can also
use items such as cloxs (a clock item that reverse the time limit),
shards (violet dust-like pixels that allow the player and the games
time to pass in slow motion; they are only visible if the player uses
the “Time Out” mechanic) and “glorbs” (yellow diamond shaped
items that increase the player’s number of lives by one, and are
found on every level on certain areas or in enemies that are difficult
to capture).
The art style of the game is very simplistic, it is
also semi-realistic as none of the characters
have a thick black border around them they
are just themselves. The game is also only
singleplayer and there is no support for online
multiplayer or Local LAN. The game is also
exaggerated as you are a group of time
travellers so this might attract people who are
interested in the Sci-Fi genre.
4. Existing Product
The Legend Of Zelda is an Old time classic
game for the Nintendo Entertainment System
(NES). The story of the game follows a boy
called Link who aims to collect the Eight
Fragments of the Triforce of Wisdom in order
to rescue Princess Zelda from the antagonist,
Ganon. The graphic style of the game is what
we would call retro but at the time these
graphics were high resolution and top of the
line. The game was also open world which
meant that players could walk around and go
wherever they wanted whenever they
wanted to which gave a freedom to that
players that they liked.
