  10. In the era of the industrial Fordist economy of the twentieth century, public schools played an economic role of not just preparing workers and ideologically forming them but also of creating a “reserve army of labor.”
  11. When a public school is privately managed, public oversight and governance is shifted to private parties, financial accountability can be made secret, and the curriculum and subject matter will tend to be largely constrained to the ideologies and institutional interests of those private businesses running schools.
