2. About Us
Bukal Life Care was first organized in 2009 in
response to the devastation in Northern Luzon due
to Typhoon Pepeng, providing medical care,
emergency response goods, and crisis counseling to
primary, secondary, and tertiary victims. We were
registered in 2010 (Sec. Reg. CN201029479). We
focus on the psychological, emotional, and spiritual
needs of those in need in the Philippines. We are an
ecumenical Christian organization and believe that
the faith of our clients is a potential resource in
healing.
Clinical Pastoral Education
We provide training for pastoral staff and chaplains
through our Clinical Pastoral Eduction program
(CPE). We are certified as a training center for CPE
by the College of Pastoral Supervision and
Psychotherapy (CPSP, www.pastoralreport.com).
Our training is interfaith and we have batches of
trainees going through the program most of the year,
with our CPE- Intensive program occurring March
to May. Our training and practical ministry is held
in partnering hospitals and jails in the Baguio-La
Trinidad region.
Disaster Response/Crisis Care
During times of disaster or community crisis, we
send in teams for stress defusing/debriefing. Our
team members are trained in a number of different
forms of crisis care including: NOVA, CISD,
Psychological First Aid, and Psychosocial
Processing. Additionally, we have members trained in
play therapy, art therapy, and story therapy for
children.
We commonly work with other government and non-
government organizations in these ventures, and have
sent teams to Benguet, La Union, Pampanga, Cagayan
de Oro, Leyte, Cebu, Bohol, Aklan, and Iloilo, to help
communities heal from disasters (both natural and
man-made).
Training
In addition to our CPE program, we hold trainings in a
number of topics. Some of these are available to the
public, while others are at the request of specific
organizations. Our public trainings are commonly held
at Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary (Baguio
City) approximately monthly. Recent topics have
included disaster response, intentional conversation,
models of pastoral care, and mediation.
We have traning modules and a large number of topics
that we hold upon request by groups. These are
typically 2 hours to 1 day, although some like Disaster
Response Chaplaincy can be up to one week in length.

Life Care
The term, life care, covers a wide array of personal
services that are available when needed. Life Care
includes three major areas:
Pastoral Care: Classic interaction/intervention in
providing support in sustaining, healing, guiding, and
reconciling. This may include one-on-one psychospiritual
care, pre-marital or marital counseling, and conflict
resolution. This may also include group or individual
debriefing.
Crisis Care: Providing stress defusion or stress
debriefing after personal or small group trauma.
Member Care: This involves psychoemotional care
commonly within the context of professional missions or
ministry.
