2. Courses:
Boy Scouts Merit Badges
Fulfill the requirements for the Swimming
Merit Badge and the Lifesaving Merit Badge,
both of which are an eagle merit badge that
can be used for the rank toward becoming an
Eagle Scout. There is a minimum of 5 scouts
for courses to run, and a maximum of 10.
CPR / AED Courses
The purpose of the American Red Cross CPR/AED
for Professional Rescuers and Health Care
Providers program is to train professional
level rescuers to respond to breathing and
cardiac emergencies in adults, children and
infants until more advanced medical personnel
take over. Participants also learn how to use
breathing barriers and an AED. Ideal for
lifeguards and medical professionals.
Scuba - Open Water Diver Program
Small, personalized classes with individualized
attention. Once certified as a PADI Open
Water Diver, you will be able to participate in a
world of fun, safely explore the underwater
environment, travel and social activities. This
will also allow you to participate in PADI’s
continuing education programs. The PADI
Open Water Diver Course is divided into three
sections: Academics (classroom), Confined
Water (pool), & Open Water Training. Minimum
of 3 participants needed for course to run.
Water Safety Instructor Course (WSI)
The course begins with Fundamentals of
Instructor Training (FIT) to teach students
the American Red Cross standards of how
to become the best instructors they can be.
Students then learn how to teach proper
stroke technique, as well as how to swim
properly themselves. Students must have a
strong knowledge of stroke proficiency to sign
up for this course. Club Fit also offers private
swim lessons to help prepare WSI candidates for
their pre-course skills test.
Waterfront Lifeguard Training
The purpose of the American Red Cross
Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level
lifeguard participants with knowledge and
skills to prevent, recognize and respond to
aquatic emergencies and to provide care for
breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and
sudden illnesses until emergency medical
services (EMS) personnel take over. Students
must be 15 years old on or before the final
scheduled session and show proof of age
at the Pre-Course Test. For Pre-Course Test
preparation,practicewithaLifeguardInstructor.
Consists of two 1-hour sessions. Participants
who fail the Pre-Course will not be allowed to
continue.
Group Swim Lessons:
Adult Group Lessons
For adult students in these classes usually
range from beginner swimmers who are
somewhat fearful to intermediate swimmers
who would like some extra pointers to improve
their swimming technique. Learn proper body
position, kicking, arm motion and breathing
techniques. Class size is generally very small,
usually 3 swimmers.
Adaptive Programming
This class is for children with Special Needs
taught by a NYS certified Teacher in Special
Education. Group lessons for children with
physical, academic and emotional needs. Each
child is taught at their level with a student to
teacher ratio of 4:1.
Parent - Tot Swim Lessons
A parent or caregiver is in the water with the
child, learning how to encourage safety, gain
confidence and start building swimming skills.
Toddlers, ages 6 months to 3 years old, enjoy
exploring water activities that promote the
development of arm and leg movements, as well
as breath control. Students will be introduced
to floating on their backs and front, jumping
in unsupported and submerging. Basic swim-
ming and safety skills are taught. Children are
required to wear swim diapers.
One Week Intensive - Kids’ Swim Lessons
Weekly swim lessons, occurring three times per
week, for children ages 3 and up. Open to campers
and non-campers. Registration is broken down
into three groups: Pre-School 1-2 for children
3-4 years old, Level 1-2 for students generally
between the ages of 5-7 years old to learn
water exploration and primary skills and Level 3
for students generally between the ages of 8-12
years old where they learn stroke readiness.
One-week Intensive classes occur several times
throughout the year.
Kids’ Swim Lessons
Kids’ Group Swim Lessons are for children ages
6 and up, who are ready to take independent
lessons with an American Red Cross-certified
instructor in a group class setting. Kids’ Swim
Lessonsaregroupedbasedonageaswellasability.
Parentsarenotinthewaterfortheselessons.Our
class sizes usually range from 3 to 5 students.
Pre-School Swimming
Pre-School Swimming is for children ages
3-5 years old. Students in Pre 1 are first time
participants who are fearful of the water. Pre 2
students are comfortable putting their head
in the water but cannot swim. Pre 3 is for
participants who are able to swim at least three
body lengths unassisted.
Sports-Swim Combo Classes
The sports combo classes run occasionally
throughout the year and introduce children to
the world of sports. Programs offered are for
children ages 3-5 years old.
Swim Team Clinic:
For children ages 10 and older who would like
to be better swimmers or are looking to join a
swim team one day. Children must be able to
swim 50 yards unassisted to enter clinic. Each
week will consist of a 1-hour class held primarily
in the lap pool. All four competitive strokes,
starts and turns will be taught in depth,
drawing on hydrodynamic principles. The
objective will be to increase stroke efficiency
and correctness as well as gain ideas to use in
participants’ own swim workouts. Participants
are to come prepared with swim goggles and a
swim cap, if necessary.
Jefferson Valley Swim Team:
The Club Fit Jefferson Valley Swim Team is
divided into six groups: Senior Elite, Elite,
Pre-Team, Junior Elite, Stroke Development 2
and Stroke Development 1. Come with a desire
to be part of a fun and competitive regional
team. Our medium-sized team practices out
of our convenient facility in Jefferson Valley.
We have a great coaching staff that works
closely with swimmers to properly teach and
improve technique with all strokes. Club Fit
Jefferson Valley Swim Team is a USA Swim-
ming program with American Swim Coach As-
sociation Coaching staff. Swim Team includes
training with ASCA-certified coaches, Parisi
Speed School Training, swim meet entries,
USA registration and swim cap. Children are
required be between the ages of 5-18 years old.
Private Coaching is an outstanding way to help
you reach your goals. Working with a USA
Swimming-Certified Swim Coach will help
the novice, fitness or competitive swimmer
improve their technique and training. This
is a unique opportunity to train with an elite
