3. In a Circular Economy consumer products are being used
more intensive and as long as possible by reuse, repair,
remanufacturing and recycling.

PRODUCTS THAT LAST
4. Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), like:
food, consumables and packaging are being
used only for a short period.
So they should be designed to fit in a
Circular Economy:
• Technosphere
• Biosphere
“PRODUCTS THAT FLOW”
5. PLASTICS
Plastics are indispensable in contemporary
society. Plastic products contribute to the
comfort, safety and welfare of people and
can make a positive contribution to reducing
the environmental impact of the complete
life cycle of the product.
The current use of plastics is not circular.
• 34% is recycled
• 66% is incinerated
7. CHALLENGE #2:
DESIGN FOR RECYCLING
Most Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Packaging
are not designed for recycling.
In this session we are investigating the opportunities
to design “Products that Flow”: products that are
optimized for recycling in the Circular Economy.
SUEZ and QCP will present some tough challenges for
designers, to optimize plastic recycling.
