CANQATE'S 13th Annual Conference
took place in Guyana at the Arthur Chung Convention Centre, located at
Liliendaal, adjacent to the CARICOM Secretariat Headquarters. The
Conference was successfully hosted by the National Accreditation Council-
Guyana in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Guyana, from 4-7,
October 2016.
This year’s theme, "Sustaining a Culture of Quality Assurance in Tertiary
Education for National and Regional Development", allowed delegates to
learn and address the important role of quality assurance to the development
of the Caribbean region. The three-day interactive conference
provided quality assurance professionals, educators, policy makers,
representatives from regional and extra-regional bodies, the opportunity to
share experiences and discuss strategies to build the capacity of countries to
develop a quality assurance culture in the Caribbean.
On October 4, the Preconference session included a workshop by Dr L.
Wilson, Alabama State University, USA and a seminar by Dr Eduardo Ali of
the CARICOM Secretariat.

The Conference featured a variety of plenary and concurrent sessions and a
panel discussion with participation by leading regional educators and policy
makers.
More than seventy members attended
the CANQATE Annual General Meeting on
October 6, 2016 at the Arthur Chung Convention
Centre, Georgetown Guyana. Read the
President's Report presented to members...
CANQATE's Logo Competition for the
2017 CANQATE Conference was determined by
popular vote at the Annual General Meeting in Guyana.
The winning artist is Dorron Weir of Portmore
Community College, located in St. Catherine, Jamaica.
CANQATE's 14th Annual Conference will be hosted in
Suriname in October 2017. We look forward to more
details from the Accreditation Council of
Suriname (Nationaal Orgaan Voor Accreditatie) NOVA.
