EJV disaster recovery site goes live
Markets Internal Communications
16 Feb 2010
After months of planning and hard work, the Electronic Joint Venture Disaster Recovery (EJV
DR) site is now fully operational. The site provides business continuity to customers in the
event of a major failure at the primary EJV data center location.
The EJV DR site is located in the Nutley Technical Center in Nutley, New Jersey. It will
provide customers with continued functionality and data if DR is invoked due to a major failure
at the primary EJV data center located in Hazelwood, Missouri.
EJV delivery systems are always connected to both the primary and EJV DR site. For the
customer, this means that the switch from the primary data center to the EJV DR site is
seamless and requires no action on their part.
The EJV DR project began in September 2008 and completed on time in November 2009.
Many teams throughout Thomson Reuters were involved, including Development, QA, Technical Operations, CARM, Network
Planning and Design, Vendor Management Network Communications, and Content Analysts. The teams collaborated across a
number of business locations, including New York City, Hauppauge, Nutley, Hazelwood, St. Louis, St. Paul, London, Beijing,
and Bangalore.
The following highlights of the project give an idea of its scale:
Delivered 130 new servers, which all needed to have operating systems installed and software deployed.
Configured 66 incoming feeds in the new data center.
Configured 22 outbound distribution feeds to work from the new data center.
Installed six new Wide Area Networks (WANs) to enable communication to and from the new data center.
Conducted three successful tests of the technology and process, proving the EJV DR site could serve as a replacement
for the primary data center within four hours of the decision to invoke the DR site.
Global Head of Sales and Trading Content Technologies Stefan Klemm said, “The successful delivery of the project is a
significant achievement towards our goal of providing world class service to our clients. Thank you to all who worked so hard
to make it a success.”
