2. Meet Your TEACHER
I was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
I received a bachelor’s degree from
Penn State University & am currently
working on a Master’s Degree from
LSU. This is my 2nd year teaching at
Central Middle.

3. School POLICIES
Our school supports a Positive
Behavior Incentive System.
Students are rewarded for
adhering to school guidelines
regularly.

4. Classroom RULES
1. Be on time.
2. Come to class
prepared to learn.
3. Respect yourself
& others.

5. Grading POLICY
I utilize Standards Based Grading along with
CMS’ regular grading policy.
Students are graded on most work based on the
standards (skill sets) they master.
A – 100% Mastered skill, no errors
B – Mastered skill, few minor errors
C – Mostly Mastered skill,
multiple minor errors
NY (Not Yet) – Skill not Mastered,
major errors

6. Retake POLICY
Because students receive “Not Yets” instead of D’s or
F’s, they are given a chance to improve their grades
on assessments to increase their skill mastery.
The student must bring a Retake Contract home to
Parents for signature & initiate the process with the
teacher. All requirements must be met before a
retake can be scheduled.

7. Homework POLICY
Homework is always ONLY an extension of what was
not completed in class. Seldom will students have new
material for homework (except in the case of Lesson
Preview Videos).
Homework is graded by random selection. We spin a Homework
Wheel to decide if it will be graded for Accuracy, Completion, Quiz, or
Free Day. The Homework Grade is an average of all homework
assignments for each quarter.

8. Social Media POLICY
Our Classroom is centered around Social
Media. We use any opportunity to integrate
it into our learning. We may Tweet
vocabulary, Snap Chat essential learning,
or Instagram Real Life Math.

9. School SUPPLIES
Our School Supply List had an error
this year. Things like Kleenex, Paper
Towels, Clorox Wipes, & Ziplock bags
were listed as “optional” by mistake.

10. If you’d like to grant some of
our wishes, feel free to grab a
sticky note with a wishlist item
from the table by the door.
