Charlotte Bracken edited a photograph for a final major project. She cropped the original image to focus on a more interesting composition. She increased the contrast and brightness to make the colors stand out more. She then applied a black and white effect to lighten and darken certain colors. Finally, she added a vignette to darken the edges and draw the eye to the center of the image. For all of her photographs, Charlotte's editing process generally included cropping, adjusting brightness and contrast, applying a black and white effect, and using lens correction and vignettes to focus the eye on the center.
3. For the start of this photograph that I have taken, I
thought about the composition and I know there was
stuff within the shot I did not need so I decided to
crop the image and select a certain area which I
thought was more interesting and had more going on
within the section.
4. After cropping the image I wanted to make the
colours brighter and stand out more by upping the
contrast and upping the brightness to make it seem
brighter. In this now I feel like the composition is
better, I feel your eye focus’s more on the middle of
the photograph.
5. Now, I will follow through with my idea with the
black and white effect. Upping the brightness and
contrast helped me by now I can get the black and
white as light as I would want it by using the Black
and White effect within Adjustments which
enables you to change the brightness or darkness
of certain colours within the photograph.
6. To finish off the final image, I have just added
a simple Lens Correction filter and using a
custom vignette, enabled me to make it as
dark or light as I wanted, it helped me know
the amount I wanted within the image.
Darkening the edges making you eyes focus
in the middle of the image.
7. I thought it was finished but then I just re-
added the last filter, Lens Correction which
made the edges look darker and brings the
photograph in.
22. As I have spoke about how I edited one of the images on the power point, I have
noticed that I have edited all of my images the same way near enough so instead
of repeating myself, I have decided to just explain what I did. To start of with any
image that I have I will look at the image and decide whether I feel like it needs
cropping, by selecting a certain part of the image indicates which area has the
most going on and what is most more interesting to the human eye and what
came make someone admire that small section. Then I either up the contrast or
down the contrast as of with the brightness of an image as well because I enjoy
having it bold and vibrant with the colours standing out as I feel like it will help me
give the best kind of image that I could possibly give by giving me a slight
advantage. After I have messed around with the brightness and contrast to the
precise way I want it, I then go the adjustments for the image and go on black and
white. This is essential as it enables me to play around on what certain bits I
would like dark or light and what I want to stand out more within an image as I can
select a colour on the present to either make lighter or darker. This way I can
highlight certain parts within the image. Then after making it black and white to the
standard I want it, if I feel it could do with being brighter or darker or sorting the
contrast out, I will go back to the brightness and contrast and sort it out yet again.
Then I will go on lens correction to add a filter which will darken the edges around
the image I have selected to edit and slightly bring the photograph in so your eyes
go to the centre of the image.
