Final Paper India and China provide two fascinating country case studies for comparing political systems, political cultures, economic growth and the future of the world’s two largest populations. Write a research paper comparing the systems, process and policy of these two countries and hypothesizing the future of each political system. Students must address and compare the following areas: Political System- to include the political environment, political structure and its functions. Political Culture- to include system, process and policy levels to include how political socialization occurs in each country and what are the key agents for socialization in each. Compare how public policy is crafted in these two countries In conclusion, students will hypothesize the direction in which they believe each country will head in the future. Will these countries become more or less democratic? How will their political cultures change with increased economic prosperity? How might interest aggregation and public policy creation change in the future? Eco 332, Money and Banking Term Paper Assignment Instructions Fall 2016 Introduction Eco 332 (Money and Banking) focuses on the traditional model of money and banking in the American banking system, a mixed capitalist economy. The course explains the functions of money and the functions and responsibilities of banking intermediaries and the Federal Reserve System in facilitating the needs of demanders of money. The course presentation of banking presumes one banking system exists which satisfies the needs of all potential users. In recent years, the evolution of non-traditional banking options has changed the view that one banking system can satisfy all users of banking services. Additionally, as the economic world has become more interdependent, national banking systems have evolved into global banking systems. Question Changes in the traditional banking system leave us with two broad questions—How has the traditional banking system changed? and How have banks responded to increased global interdependence? In this assignment you will respond to one of the above questions in a term (research) paper; you may select either question. For your convenience three topics are provided from which you may choose to write your paper : 1. Shadow Banking (in either the U.S. or a country of your choice). 2. Social Banking (in either the U.S. or a country of your choice). 3. Global Banking. Topics (1) and (2) will answer the “how has traditional banking changed” question. The Global Banking topic is broad so you will need to narrow to a specific issue. Task In 1,250 to 1,500 words (5-6 pages excluding the title and references pages) compare and contrast the traditional banking model to either “Shadow Banking” or “Social Banking”. OR, describe and discuss “Global Banking” or a global banking topic. You may also compare and contrast the same system, e.g. Shadow Banking, between two countries. Your paper should specify a premise (thesis) which may reflect an opinion reached after studying the topic and should present key aspects/facts/features of the system. Remember to also include statistics (for example, the $ size of traditional banking transactions versus transactions in the alternative system) which describe the system and lend support to your position. Overall you want the paper to demonstrate that you researched the topic and want to reflect what you learned. (Notify me of your topic through Canvas in the designated folder). Required Sources Your paper must reference at least eight sources dated no older than 2008; two (2) sources must be academic sources; the remaining six (6) sources can be newspaper articles, internet news sources, agency sources (federal reserve, IMF …) and so on. Format Format your paper according to APA style. Use in-text citations, title and references pages. Times New Roman, Font size 11 or 12, double-spaced, one-inch margins. You may either imbed tables or graphs or place in an app.

Review Instructions for Essay 4--The Research Paper The instructions and guides for the research paper are linked below. In this class you have a rare opportunity to develop, revise/edit, and resubmit your work. Your revised exploratory paper (Essay 2) will become the introduction to your research paper. The revised position paper (Essay 3) will become the body. In addition, you will create a conclusion or "solutions" section for the final project. Note, however, that significant revisions are expected, so you should carefully review the edited draft and rubric evaluations for both essays 2/3 before you begin your final essay. The final research papers must meet ALL of the minimum criteria for the assignment (in terms of structure, development, documentation style, quality and number of research sources, and writing skills) to be eligible for a score. In other words, you must receive a mark of "competent" in all of these areas to receive a grade for this assignment. English 103: Essay 4—Research Paper In the Research Paper, you will further develop, revise, and build upon the single perspective argument you have been developing all semester. Your final assignment should demonstrate your ability to apply the principles of argument discussed in the class throughout the semester and it should demonstrate your ability to use critical thinking when discussing a controversial issue. Directions: Prepare an 8-10 page research essay that builds upon the single perspective argument paper. The purpose of this assignment is to build upon what you have already created in the course. Therefore, the introduction of your research paper should be drawn from your Exploratory Paper, laying the foundation for the reader by presenting all sides of the issue, the exigence, etc. The body should be drawn from the Position Paper, which incorporates research to support your claim and sub-claims. Obviously, you cannot include the entire portion of each of the previous papers, and your final research paper should show that you’ve developed areas requiring development and made significant revisions to those sections of your papers requiring revision. The idea is to pull sections and points from previous essays. Use comments from me to revise those papers as you incorporate portions of them into this final project. In addition to revising/developing the exploratory and position papers to serve as the introduction and body of the research paper, you will write an extended conclusion in which you focus on a viable solution and/or conclusion to the issue. For the conclusion, provide a means of solving the problem indicated by your topic. Consider the audience, establish common ground, and provide details for how to implement the solution. For example, if the position paper argued that bilingual education is necessary in California schools, the solution would discuss how to implement bilingual education programs in our California schools. You.

However, please note that you were supposed to have your topic cleared by me beforehand. Since you did not check in for your topic to be approved, I took five points off the grade. I will approve your topic since it is still available. Also, the structure of the outline is not quite correct. The outline was also supposed to follow the skeleton format that was provided in the e-mailed example. Please note that the abstract and conclusion should not be written yet. If you think about it, how can you summarize a paper that is not yet written? There also needs to be an annotated bibliography at the end and at least five peer-reviewed sources need to be listed. Please also include the city and state where the books were published. I made a few other minor corrections and comments in the outline. I look forward to reading your paper. Keep up the good work. In BC’s nearly-decade-old “new” curriculum, the curricular competencies describe the processes that students are expected to develop in areas of learning such as mathematics. They reflect the “Do” in the “Know-Do-Understand” model. Under the “Communicating” header falls the curricular competency “Explain and justify mathematical ideas and decisions.” Note that it contains two processes: “Explain mathematical ideas” and “Justify mathematical decisions.” I have broken it down into its separate parts in order to understand--or reveal--its meaning. The first part is commonplace in classrooms. By now, BC math teachers—and students—understand that “Explain mathematical ideas” means more than “Show your work.” Teachers consistently ask “What did you do?” and “How do you know?” This process is about retelling, not just of steps but of thinking. The second part happens less frequently. Think back to the last time that you observed a student make—a necessary precursor to justify—a mathematical decision. “Justify” is about defending. Like “explain,” it involves reasoning; unlike “explain,” it also involves opinion and debate. In order to reinterpret the curricular competency “Explain and justify mathematical ideas and decisions,” I will continue to take apart its constituent part “Justify mathematical decisions” and carefully examine the term “mathematical decisions.” What, exactly, is a “mathematical decision”? Below, I will categorize answers to this question. These categories, and the provided examples, may help to suggest new opportunities for students to justify.
