The document discusses how the author addressed their target audience of males and females interested in mainstream chart music for their music magazine. They took inspiration from Billboard magazine's conventions like the front cover layout and color scheme of red and blue to appeal to both genders. Key elements like the sell lines on the left side and weekly music charts in the contents were included to catch the audience's attention and interest. The double page spread featured a new mainstream girl group in a way that still appealed to male readers by using appropriate colors, column layout, and relatable images of the artists.
2. Front cover
My target audience for my magazine are both males
and females who enjoys mainstream chart music. A
magazine of the same genre of my magazine that has a
similar target audience is American music magazine
Billboard.
When producing my magazine I took into account
some of Billboard magazines conventions and used
some of their conventions in my magazine.
I was inspired my Billboard magazines front cover main
image of Taylor Swift as she is in the same position as
my model but is wearing a different outfit to go with
the magazines chosen colour scheme.
For my music magazine I used a red and blue colour
scheme as they are colours suited to both a male and
female audience as they aren't to girly or masculine.
The sell lines were on the left side of the page as
people subconsciously read from left to right so I
wanted my sell lines to be on the left side so they
would catch peoples attention. The sell lines used
relate well to the genre of the magazine and are what I
believe would make my target audience want to buy
the magazine so they could read about these articles.
3. Contents page
I carried on the red and blue colour scheme for
continuity throughout my magazine as I this made my
magazine appear more professional. I was again
inspired by Billboard magazine for the layout of my
contents page. I had a weekly chart featured on my
magazine contain the current top 10 as my magazine is
a mainstream chart music magazine so my target
audience will be interested in what is going on in the
music charts. I included images on my contents page to
make it more visually attractive and not to simple and
boring, however I didn’t want to clutter my contents
page as I don’t think it really goes with my target
audience and other magazines of the same genre such
as Billboard and Blender don’t have cluttered contents
pages, there contents pages are also clear and simple
to read so this is how I wanted my contents page to be
set out.
4. Double page spread
My double page spread features a new mainstream girl group who release pop
music, fitting with the mainstream chart music genre. I tried to make my double page
spread look as professional as other magazines by using columns for my article and
appropriate heading and I also carried on the colour scheme of red and blue because
although it is a girl group featured I know males are still my target audience so I didn’t want
to make the article to colour my using colours such as pink or purple. I included images of
the featured artists but I wanted the images to be relatable to my target audience and not
to over the top or ‘editorial’ as I want my target audience to be able to relate with the
featured artists to make the article more appealing to read as they will feel like they can
relate to the girl group.
