1. TV Crime Drama Questions 3,4
and 5 Evaluation
By Ben Traub
2. Question 2-What kind of media institution might
distribute your media product and why?
• I think the type of media institute that would distribute my product would be
the BBC. This is because when I was in my planning stages I thought of how
the BBC haven’t really created a young aged group TV crime drama since ‘
Sherlock’. I wanted to create a similar show that would have an iconic storyline
and would be a as socially popular as Sherlock. That is why I would choose the
BBC , it is free TV which would widely distribute my show more socially.
3. Question 4- Who would be the audience for your media
product?
• My audience for my TV crime drama would be what I mentioned in my last
question ; the kind of audience that watch ‘Sherlock’. This would be mixed
genders between the ages of 15/16- 20’s. This is because the younger
generation are the ones who spend the most time on social media which
can lead to fan groups which then spread that fandom across other
generations . This will then make my show more widely spread across all
media institutions.
4. Question 5-How did you attract/address your audience?
• I attracted my audience by using certain structures of a classic TV crime
drama such as ; finding a dead body of young victim and two police
officers from different backgrounds in charge of finding out who murdered
the victim. This is a basic but popular structure that brings a lot of young
audience members.
• I also attracted my audience by using quick cuts in my opening scene. A
young audience like a quick , fast paced tone to a TV crime drama. They
like to see the plot progress quickly. I also intrigued my audience by using
a slow transition type opening sequence which allows the audience to get
insight on more clues on the plot , character development e.t.c which my
audience would like. This is because a young audience with a fandom
attached love to pick apart and analyse every little detail picked up in
every scene possible.
