This presentation was created for a contemporary issues/economics 12th grade Social Studies class. This PowerPoint covers global issues that are affecting the world. However, due to the amount of information, this presentation only covers health, education, and the economy in a global perspective. This was made by me and three other people in my group.

A strong correlation between the sex of United Nations (UN) peace operation managers and their advocacy for the role of women in peacebuilding was found in an internet study carried out in May 2008. Senior female UN managers involved in peace processes are ten times more likely than male colleagues publicly to address women's roles as peacebuilders, yet of the sixty-six Special Representatives of the UN Secretary-General (SRSG), Deputy Special Representatives of the UN Secretary-General (DSRSG), and Special Envoys addressing peacebuilding who were listed on the Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) web site in May 2008, only six were women. In view of the large numbers of women who become refugees or are internally displaced due to armed conflict, it is paramount that peace processes include them at all levels and in all aspects on an equal footing with men. Appointing more women to senior level positions in the UN is one way to achieve this aim. Nobel Peace Prize recipient Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is featured on page 8 in this presentation

Despite global effort it is estimated that about 2.2 billion people still live in poverty, and that approximately 80 of this figure is made up of people living in rural areas. The Sustainable Development Goals SDGs of the 2030 Agenda include as its number 1 goal, the goal to end poverty. However, the report by the World Bank 2018 stated that putting an end to poverty is proving to be one of the greatest human rights challenges the modern world faces. The Sustainable Development Goals SDGs which are an extension of the Millennium Development Goals MDGs was adopted on September 2015 by the United Nations Assembly to fight against poverty and eradicate human deprivation. This paper presents a brief introduction on poverty laws, discusses possible challenges and the way forward. In our opinion, poverty is the main reason for hunger, weather is it poverty of an individual or of a whole nation. In developing countries, governments can’t afford to support those in need for food and water and in developed countries there are some individuals who can’t afford their need due to lack of education which caused them to be unable to look for a source of income. Natural disasters can cause poverty too. Governments should be able to provide shelter and food for those people who their houses and belongings were destroyed by natural disasters.
