  5. 5. A straightforward approach We provided a solution in conjunction with mileage specialist The Miles Consultancy (TMC), combining their expertise with our fuel expenses card to give Morrisons drivers a simpler way to pay. – Fleet drivers can buy fuel and lubricants at 98% of the UK roadside fuel network. – Barclaycard Spend Management automatically categorises the different transactions, including fuel. – Drivers log in to the TMC Mileage Capture system to report their business journeys and total monthly odometer readings. – TMC calculates VAT, personal fuel and Benefits In Kind (BIK) tax data, plus private fuel deductions, and delivers it to Morrisons in a monthly payroll-ready data file.
  6. 6. Efficient and effective The bespoke solution streamlined Morrisons’ fuel expenses process, saving both their drivers and their expenses team time and money. Benefits for Morrisons – Unparalleled visibility and insight into journeys, fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and potential misuse of cards. – No need for drivers to keep VAT receipts, hugely reducing the workload of the Morrisons expenses team. – Increased accuracy in reporting mileages and transactions saw a direct saving of over £300,000 on the corporate fuel budget in the first year alone. – A further saving of £70,000 on Employer’s National Insurance Contributions.
  7. 7. Savings for the future To find out how Barclaycard Fuel+ could benefit your business, speak to your Relationship Manager today. ‘Switching to Barclaycard Fuel+ has made a huge difference. As well as the direct cost savings it has delivered, the visibility it gives us will help us shape our policy. No other solution offered us the same level of data. It has enabled us to get firmly on track with fuel cost management.’ Barclaycard Fuel+, together with TMC’s Mileage Capture and Audit system, has helped Morrisons reduce its annual fuel spend by 5.5%. Plus we’ve helped them identify another £500,000 of potential cost savings and tax efficiencies for the future. Increased visibility and greater control, as well as a much simpler system, has proved hugely efficient for both drivers and the expenses team. Beverly Hodson Benefits Manager Morrisons
