Helping you to
welcome change
2014 promises to be a big year for education; the new curriculum
arriving this September brings with it new challenges to schools
across the country. On top of this, many of the challenges that lie
ahead are yet to even be addressed. We recognise, therefore, that
there has never been a more important time for all educators to
have access to the advice and guidance they need to progress and
help young people to achieve their potential.
2014 is also a big year for The Education Show, as we are taking a new
approach to helping you tackle the challenges head on. A rich offering
of new content, inspiring training and development, and innovative
educational suppliers will be available throughout the show. I look
forward to sharing glimpses of these with you over the coming pages.
More than 120 free to attend, CPD accredited workshops, seminars,
training sessions and discussion events will be led by practitioners,
peers and industry experts on the show floor. This extensive
programme will address issues at the core of the education debates
today; how can we best prepare for the new curriculum? How can we
ensure education technology makes a significant impact on learning?
How can we support the needs of all learners appropriately? Dedicated
theatres on the show floor will provide the answers to these questions
and many more.
Recognising the impetus on school leaders at this current time, the
School Leaders Summit returns, featuring high-profile experts from
a selection of outstanding UK schools on hand to inspire, advise and
network with one another. After a successful inaugural year, we are also
pleased to welcome back the national PTA-UK conference, helping
parent-teacher organisations to support education on an ongoing basis.
As ever, you will also benefit from the knowledge and advice of more
than 350 leading education suppliers who will showcase the latest
teaching tools and most cost-effective procurement schemes. From
whole school solutions to best-value classroom resources, this is an
opportunity unlike any other to evaluate and test products and services
to establish which is best for you.
We are sure that a visit to The Education Show will leave
you feeling supported and inspired, whatever your
role and current challenges may be.
We look forward to welcoming you to the show!

at the show with a large
battery-powered Classroom
Wall Clock, to help with a
subject that many find difficult
to learn – and teach. The
clock is used with a simple
three-step time teaching
system: read the number at
the end of the long hand;
say whether it’s pointing to
the ‘minutes to’ red side or
‘minutes past’ blue side; and
read the number at the end of the short hand.

abilities to improve their hand/eye
coordination and ball hitting skills.

Language resources
help pupil progress
Communication Across Cultures (stand E10) will
launch The Learning Village, an online environment
designed to support six- to 14-year-old new arrivals.
Using fun, interactive and game-based learning,
the new resource provides these pupils with the
language they need to succeed, both socially and
academically, at school. It includes an assessment
of students’ current level of English and progressive
sessions of English language learning.
Also supporting pupils whose first language isn’t
English, MathsZone (stand A71) will introduce
Access to Maths, which enables students to
progress in maths without fluency in English. The
course helps teachers to make real assessments of
pupils’ mathematical knowledge rather than their
knowledge of English. MathsZone will also show
Gridlines, its new card game designed to reinforce
learning in maths.
