Aetna Managed Services is a very large program of Application support of 550 + applications
hosted at Aetna. Application are grouped according to their functionality as plan sponsor,
billing, claims, quotation rating, channel management, government program etc. Application
involve different technologies as Mainframe, Java, and Dot Net etc. and of different
complexity. Some applications are highly complex, medium complex & Stable.
I am project lead/IT business analyst of claims function composed of 35 applications,
technology ranging from Mainframe, DOT Net & Java. We provide application support, service
request, small enhancements, break fix service requests, ticket resolution, reports & adhoc
work as required.
As a project lead/business analyst following are my job responsibilities/achievements:-
1. Assigned work to team members and ensured timely and error free delivery of service
requests, tickets and any adhoc requests and within estimates.
2. Mentored team with technical and business queries and ensured on time and error free

system), OEF (Outbound Email Facility) & CCS (Channel Common Services). Applications are

needs. The communication happens through request and response services and through
channel management applications. Upstream application sends request in a format, the
request goes through channel management applications which does some initial checking and
format check and calls downstream application. Downstream application responds through
response services and return data to channel applications. Channel applications return data
either unaltered or make some changes before providing to calling applications.
As a project lead following are my job responsibilities/achievements:-
1. Managed financials and operations parameters of projects ensured that all deliverables are
met on time and constantly managed 12% to 18% savings on effort received from client.

MassMutual Financial Group - comprised of member companies with more than $370 billion of
assets under management is a global, growth- oriented, diversified financial services
organization providing life insurance, annuities, disability income insurance, long-term care
insurance, retirement planning products, structured settlement annuities, trust services,
money management, and other financial products and services. MassMutual Financial Group is
a marketing designation (or fleet name) for Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company.
OPM (Ordinary Policy Master), as deployed at Mass Mutual is a complex Legacy system for
traditional insurance products which runs on Z/OS and hosts approx. 1.4 million life insurance,
annuity & disability income policies. MML Legacy team provides enhancements, application
support, adhoc requests and regulatory projects for OPM.
There were 51 Abends (Average) per quarter in OPM production cycle. This was leading to
missed SLAs and getting penalized, low customer satisfaction over a period, high cost
portrayed in the competitive market scenario.
It was my brain child project had initiated/ proposed the project while working for OPM
project. I had participated in proposal, data analysis, estimation, cost benefit analysis,
acquiring necessary six sigma green belt training & examinations, participated in staffing,
deployment & closure of the project, hence awarded six sigma green belt certification. I also
delivered all necessary Six Sigma project documentation like Project Charter, SIPOC, CTQ’s,
and Process Flow Charts. Regular monthly reporting of project status and progress to sponsor,
data analysis and cost benefit analysis.
The project was a huge success resulting in automating several special nightly batch cycle run
such as super Saturday and year end cycle, minimized 53% of the production abends and
saving $ 66006 annually. The system is expected to remain in service for 20 more years.
Process improved as a whole and lead to customer satisfaction and several other work/project
was awarded.

Managed financials and operations parameters of projects ensured that all deliverables are met on time and constantly managed 12% to 18% savings on effort received from client. 2. Defect prevention, configuration management, execution and control of project parameters which helped the project in controlling and minimize the defect and rework, ensured that effort spent on as rework and other SDLC activities are saved, achieved and surpassed other unit level project parameters as well. 3. OPM (Ordinary Policy Master), as deployed at Mass Mutual is a complex Legacy system for traditional insurance products which runs on Z/OS and hosts approx. 1.4 million life insurance, annuity & disability income policies. MML Legacy team provides enhancements, application support, adhoc requests and regulatory projects for OPM. There were 51 Abends (Average) per quarter in OPM production cycle. This was leading to missed SLAs and getting penalized, low customer satisfaction over a period, high cost portrayed in the competitive market scenario. It was my brain child project had initiated/ proposed the project while working for OPM project. I had participated in proposal, data analysis, estimation, cost benefit analysis, acquiring necessary six sigma green belt training & examinations, participated in staffing, deployment & closure of the project, hence awarded six sigma green belt certification. I also delivered all necessary Six Sigma project documentation like Project Charter, SIPOC, CTQ’s, and Process Flow Charts. Regular monthly reporting of project status and progress to sponsor, data analysis and cost benefit analysis. The project was a huge success resulting in automating several special nightly batch cycle run such as super Saturday and year end cycle, minimized 53% of the production abends and saving $ 66006 annually. The system is expected to remain in service for 20 more years. Process improved as a whole and lead to customer satisfaction and several other work/project was awarded. Policy is issued by New Business System and Billing and Collection is handled by billing system. Rest of the policy functions are handled by OPM system. On Call Production Support and problem resolution and root cause analysis and proactively prevented abends happening in production scenario. 3. Most of the work is provided to a vendor, but GE staff support some GE applications for Whole Life Product. There is a mainframe piece that GE staff supports. As well as the support of the files that transferred from the vendor to the mainframe daily and to downstream systems. As a team member following were my responsibilities/achievements:- 1.
