JOB DESCRIPTION
Upfront design support & design reviews:
Give necessary support to the designers during initial phase of design to ensure that the
product meets manufacturability, serviceability, performance, reliability, cost, feature set etc.
& critical success factors of the product and project.
Procurement / Materials Management:
Formulating and implementing the procurement strategy by developing / modifying strategy
for purchase and establishing methods to achieve targets and resource planning.
Negotiation on commodity based items & issuing the order as per requirement; lead time
analysis of purchase requisition generation to purchase order generation, vendor evaluation
and PR, PO & MIS.
Vendor development:
Responsible for introduction of new suppliers as per the guidelines and also time to time
reassessment of existing suppliers in order to assess the improvements to be done by the
suppliers in their manufacturing processes.
Locate and selection of potential sources of various commodities and quality requirement.
Conduct process assessment of supplier quality systems and supplier business.

Responsible to ensure that the part developed supports manufacturability and meets product
cost targets by contributing in DFM using alternate processes, materials, sources & improving
manufacturability & meeting manufacturing cost target.
Institutionalization of Development practices, development of defect free part and Reliability
Ensure quality of part development/sourcing activity involving the supplier/manufacturer of
the part during the design phase, upfront estimation of risks & their mitigation, establishing
right & capable manufacturing processes at the part manufacturers’ sites that would help
development of first time right parts while meeting the critical success factors of the program.
Ensure upfront estimation of all issues related new part development/sourcing activities which
are followed by the team so that defects are arrested by following guidelines/best practices,
ensuring effective reviews and timely closure of reported defects.
Technical risk and issue management:
Responsible for proactive identification of technical risks, planning mitigation and managing
risks. Address technical issues that affect the business with appropriate priority as per the
needs of the business
Responsible for reviewing the defects logged and work for effective identification and
implementation of corrective actions during defect analysis to ensure that designs delivered to
external and internal customers are defect free.
Support in effective identification and implementation of preventive actions during defect
analysis so as to prevent similar failures in the future.
