ANCIENT THEATRE OF EPIDAURUS
• Polykleitos the Younger, architect from Argos, built the
theatre in Epidaurus at 340 B.C, in a gorge near the
Asclepius.
• The theatre of Epidaurus is in very good condition. It
was made for the entertainment of patients and
attendants. It has 13.000 seats divided into two parts (2
tiers). One has 21 seat lines for the spectators and the
other of 34 seat lines, for the priests and lords.
• Panagis Kabbadias started the excavations in Ancient
Epidaurus in 1881.
• The Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus was included in the
World Heritage Culture Monuments of UNESCO
