2. What is IOT ?
• The Internet of Things (IoT) was just an idea that a lot of people in the tech world talked
about, but that the everyday person didn’t know or care much about.
• IoT, is it's interconnected, uniquely identifiable computing devices that can be embedded
and connected using the existing Internet's infrastructure.

3. How is IOT Testing Possible?
• We have to rethink the testing process in this realm because the Internet of Things simply
needs to be enhanced our previous testing processes.
• The test cases, the test scenarios, the test plan that’s still applicable within this world of
testing. We still need testers who need to continue and move this style of testing forward.
What is new in this world is the introduction of test subjects.
• The test subject could be an active person, for example, to monitor or test a health device. It
could be an animal to test a bio-chip. It could be a driver to test a particular automobile. You
do need a specific subject in this world.
• Testing will have to be both subjective as well as objective, where we need to create the test
environments to test the devices and put them through the real-world use cases.

• In the past, the development process stopped with deployment. Once a product was
released out into the wild, that product was finished from a development standpoint. But
with the IoT, you can't just ship it and forget it.
• The growing expectation for post-deployment content and updates means that not only do
organizations need enhanced change and management solutions, but they also need to think
about testing over an even greater development cycle.
• While serial and waterfall methods have been widely used for decades, those methodologies
are crumbling under the enormous weight of the Internet of Things.
• Agile is the key to IOT Testing

6. IOT Testing using Test Automation Techniques
• Automation testing comes handy in testing IoT. Automation testing is considered as one of
the most lightweight, flexible approaches to IoT application development.
• After delivering a Sprint, the product backlog is examined and re-prioritized, if required, and
the next set of functionality is chosen for the next Sprint.
• The primary objective of automation testing in IoT applications is to devise and promote a
common industry framework for fast software delivery.
• The methodology and testing method is based on few key principles that involve business
value, empowered teams, rapid delivery, active user involvement, and integrated testing and
stakeholder collaboration.
• In this agile development methodology, requirements are determined initially in the project
and rework is built into the process.
• As the trend of IoT is growing rapidly and varied machines are connected in it, automated
testing emerges as more of a necessity than an option. QA teams will need time and
experience to deal with the behavior of moving parts in the volatile IoT environment. Rather
than just focusing on whether a system is functional or not, testers will need to check if a
device is reliable and salable in usual or unusual circumstances.

• Agile methodologies and continuous delivery, are particularly well equipped for dealing with
the demands of the connected device. With agile, frequent updates are essentially a
requirement. This satisfies the end user's desire for a constantly updated device, the
developer's need for a manageable development schedule, and the business requirements to
respond quickly to market needs.
• Agile methods also support the use of automating the software delivery pipeline: from
software builds, testing, and all the way through deployments and product updates. This is
useful in the world of connected devices for two reasons. First, it means that many tests
(particularly those required for security purposes) can be automated, which leads to a
reduced risk of security flaws and to a better, more stable end product. Second, by
automating releases of software updates and simplifying the operations that go into
deployments, the developer's time is freed up to create new features to improve the
product.
