Hermes is a new replication protocol that provides high performance, linearizability, and fault tolerance. It allows for fast local reads at replicas while enabling highly concurrent writes through an invalidation-based approach. Evaluation on an RDMA cluster showed that Hermes outperforms state-of-the-art protocols by providing up to 6x lower write latency and 4x higher throughput, especially at higher write ratios.
