4. What do the Charges Mean
• Tuition charge – Cost for courses taken at MIAD. Cost is determined by number of credits
taken. Full-time and part-time rates apply. See Rate schedule above
• Majors fee – Course fee for upper level students used for supplies provided in class,
fieldtrips, guest speakers, models, technology, and special events. Fee is an average based
on costs for courses during sophomore through senior years.
• Foundations fee – Course fee for foundation level students used for additional supplies
provided in class, fieldtrips, guest speakers, models, technology, and special events. Fee is
an average based on costs for courses during foundation year.
• Core Supply Kit – Fee for core supply kit required for all new Foundations students,
optional for transfer students.
• Mini Supply Kit – Fee for core supply kit required for certain foundation classes, amount
varies with class.
• Student Activity Fee – Fee for student services events and activities provided through the
year. These include support for student government and student run organizations.
• Dormitory Charge – Cost for room in Broadway building dormitory.
• Meal Plan Card – Amount for prepaid student meal card. Required for residents, optional
commuter plans available.
• Parking Fee – Fee for parking in reserved student lots, full semester only.
• Senior Events Fee – Fee for events held in senior year of program including senior thesis
exhibition, preview night, gallery night, graduation related activities, and senior picnic.
Assessed one time, usually in spring term.

6. How do I pay

Tuition and fees are due the first day of the semester August 26, 2013 January 13, 2014
Payment in Full
If you choose to pay the remaining balance due in full, the payment should be sent directly to:

MIAD TuitionPay Plan
Many students and families participate in the MIAD payment plan. The payment plan allows for a remaining
balance to be spread out over a period of time during the academic year or semester. The payment plan will
be administered by Sallie Mae. There is a nominal enrollment fee for this service. There are no interest
charges; however, Sallie Mae will assess a late fee for overdue payments and a convenience charge for
credit card use.

7. Refunds

In order to get a refund, a Complete Withdrawal Form must be signed and returned to the Registrar by the dates/times specified in the
following schedule.

Refund of Overpayments
If your expected financial aid is more than the balance due, you will
receive the difference when your financial aid is confirmed and applied
to your account. Estimated date for refunds is September 13, 2013.
