Edx Assignment - Digital Strategy.docx

  1. 1. Edx Assignment - Digital Strategy What is the strategy of Lyxel & Flamingo Private Ltd? The strategy of my company is to generate monetary value by providing advertising & marketing services to our clients. We also serve clients with additional app/web development & technology management services. Our strategy is to increase the brand awareness of our clients resulting in an indirect increase in their sales. — Identifying one strategic goal? Our strategic goal includes increasing employee productivity by at least 20% by employing a bankable digital strategy. Although our company is pretty modern in nature of services, our communication channels are largely traditional. We heavily rely on in-person meetings for collaboration and the transfer of briefs. This results in a lot of duplication of work and wastage of time. In the era post-pandemic, where the offices are opening, it becomes heavily essential that we don’t go back to our old ways. Our goal is to create a reliable strategy that can increase overall employee productivity by modifying the way we communicate in our current processes. — A description of the digital readiness of your company, related to the strategic goal chosen. My company is totally digital-ready. We already work on MS Office and One Drive at work. We seldom use Zoom and G-Meet for urgent meetings. Most of our teams also use advanced data analytics tools like SEM Rush and Google Trends. The only reason why we still use in-person meetings for collaboration is because of the personal touch. A lot of senior officials still have not realised the merit of online meetings. They join and actively become part of online meetings but they don’t really experiment with the meetings of strategic importance. They don’t prefer keeping the Leader’s Meet online. They never take charge of our online presentations and prefer their younger counterparts to take the lead. I believe conducting meetings virtually isn’t that difficult given the current scenario of the pandemic. Given a chance and a use case, I think, we can totally implement virtual meetings as our standard meeting procedure. No doubt about that. — With the strategic goals chosen, design your digital strategy and define the steps to be followed (action plan) in order to achieve your goals.
  2. 2. My strategy would have the following steps: 1. Articulation of the strategy: I would start off by laying down the use case or the need for such a transformation. The duplication of meetings and the wastage of time is one thing that everyone notices. We would clearly communicate that we need to relook at our communication process to improve the overall employee productivity. - We would set up/take a business licence for a virtual meeting platform. - Secondly, we would set up a pilot of 15 individuals who would conduct all meetings virtually. - We will gauge the minutes of the meetings and their daily meeting duration for two weeks. - Then we’ll gauge the changes and compare progress. 2. Defining value: A better internal communication process would result in more efficiency & increased productivity. This would lead to more work done by the same employees. Hence, a quantifiable goal would be at least a 20% increase in the total bandwidth of the client servicing and the project management teams. A sizeable increase in the number of meetings scheduled per day. 3. Implementation: - To keep the judgement fair, we will select 15 employees at random to test our pilot process. - During the first 3 days, we’ll conduct platform demos to ensure the team is well versed with the meeting platforms. - From the 4th day, we will ask our employees to fill a short survey at the end of every day to gauge the change in their bandwidth and their overall experience. - Finally, we will compare the productivity of the employees in the pilot vs the productivity of employees who did not participate in the pilot. 4. Identifying Challenges: After the end of the pilot run, we would discuss the challenges faced by the employees. This process would be very essential to make sure that the same challenges are not faced by the bigger set of employees. 5. Escalation: The strategy, now perfected, will be employed at the scale of the whole company. — Use the elementsof the digital transformation map as guidance: vision and leadership, customer experience, individualsand processes, and business & technology model. The Digital Transformation Map is the basis of any digital strategy. My strategy would have 4 central elements. Vision & Leadership: We would set up a team of high-performance managers from the system to lead the pilot run. They would be tasked to set up the introduction and smooth operation of the channel. It would be really important to pick only those individuals who are ready and have faith in the newly setup process. They would be responsible to create a feedback mechanism to perfect the strategic rollout. Customer Experience: The strategy is to improve overall client satisfaction. A seamless internal channel would certainly lead to a smooth internal process. This would increase employee productivity resulting in more focus and better output for our client's work.
  3. 3. This channel would also help us to communicate with our clients better, resulting in overall better satisfaction. Individuals & Processes: The involvement of all employees is fundamental in the early stages of any change. Hence, for the pilot run, we would pick up all the participating employees at random to see if everyone is equally comfortable or not. It is understandable that the younger employees would be more perceptive and would not take a long time to adapt. Hence, it becomes really important that we take the feedback and results of the group as a whole than from individual employees. Business Technologies: Picking up the perfect technology partner is very important. We would have to compare the different platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Meet. While Teams provides the most integrations with our current structure, it is quite complex. Meet & Zoom are the easiest to operate. While we are at it, we also need to look at the financial implications of buying such licenses. They may look minor on an individual level but the cost of rolling out such technology for 450+ employees is pretty huge. We may have to look at Teams that may require some time to get used to but it certainly provides the best integrations among all others.
