I initially started my career in a local newspaper
whereas I learned to create marketing campaigns.
After two years I was promoted to Art Director. I
later moved on to other occupations within the
printing industry. I have designed packaging,
created marketing campaigns, and learned the ins
and outs of prepress.
As the job market became scarce for designers, I
decided to go to school for Psychology and
Medical Assisting. During this phase of my life , I
learned how to reinvent myself as a professional: I
learned to write and became a journalist for
Yahoo, I worked two years in a mental health
facility, and I learned to create presentations and
speak to a large audience.
I am exploring opportunities in the field whereas
my work ethic, creativity, and communications
experience would best be utilized.

During my time with Fidelity Offset, I was responsible for the daily
operations and production of printed products- operating several
digital machines simultaneously to keep same day delivery turn
around schedules. I was required to record my daily
production/impression counts, plan the consumables for the day
(paper, ink, inventory), and multitask bindery and quality control in
shipping/receiving.

Xerox | Contractor through CTG
Graphic Designer/Graphics Consultant
This division of Xerox was dedicated to the production of
printed collateral/marketing products for HCA’s 250
facilities across the nation.
I worked to schedule products with a web based resource
which includes working with production and tracking
individual job orders. I collaborated with a team to take
customer orders, design products when needed, respond
to service calls on Xerox equipment, and create end of
month reporting/invoicing.

I worked in the administrative office, the examining room and
the internal office laboratory. I served as a liaison between
the doctor and the patient: administering injections,
performing phlebotomy, entering labs, recording vital signs
and entering records/prescriptions all under the direct
supervision of a physician.

Worked with satellite offices in several locations throughout
the United States, prepared digital files for customer approval
and worked direct with the customers about changes and
approvals. Also did preproduction work with computer to plate
equipment- Compiling/ preparing printing plates and
organizing materials for large format presses.
Triangle Printing

I was responsible for the production end of the printing
company to supply fulfillment to the printing presses-
maintained chemistry, troubleshoot equipment problems with
processors, checked in, and kept up with inventory relative to
production of plates. I kept a daily log of printed products,
tracked active customer orders, and general customer
service/scheduling of all ordered products. Additionally I was
also responsible for layout- typesetting, graphic design and
prepress stripping film to plate for multiple printers.

I worked in a frame shop doing various jobs including
contract work and sign mounting. I took walk-in customer
orders, checked in daily inventory, and helped to fulfill
commercial accounts.
Smyrna Graphics
Art Director/ Prepress Tech
Designed various materials for Comcast digital and prepared
all creative works for their presses. I did a great deal of
catalog work and assembled work to be ready to print. I
worked with not only our in-house print department, but also
outsourced work with vendors for media advertising- anything
was prepared for magazine to billboard work all in house.

I was responsible for creative and production work daily
involving a great deal of multitasking with production work
and customer service work. I worked with multiple computer
formats in both Macintosh and IBM: was required to take
orders from customers and follow all the way to
production/finishing.
CRT Custom Products
Package Designer
Initially I was hired as a proofreader then promoted to
prepress/layout design. CRT did music and software
packaging and I became the lead producer of package
design for the facility. Designs were either plotted for print or
with the actual designs of packages to become die cut or
assembled for production. We often committed to 24 hour
turn times in package [mock up] requests from our customers
which usually required design of both graphics and die cut
packages.
John Deal Company
Prepress/Illustrator
John Deal was the sole point of printing for Murray, was a
screen printer that manufactured labels for vehicles and other
manufactured products. The position required long amounts
of time illustrating and trapping items for screen printing-
often recreating artwork and manipulating trap for multiple
layers of printing. The expected print turn was one day turns
on customer orders which involved much teamwork and long
hours of creation and recreation time.
GCA Publishing
Creative Director
GCA Publishing was and still is the entity that creates three
different newspapers that currently are in circulation in
Nashville, specifically The Green Hills News, Belle Meade
News, and the West Meade News. In my position as creative
director I was required to design all the creative layout and
advertising design for all three newspapers. I was required to
multitask and be creative in a severely fast paced deadline
orientated company. In addition to creative design, I also was
the customer service representative in taking orders,
answering phones, and increasing the profitability of
advertising. The efforts that I took in upselling advertisements
more than doubled the ad content and size of the product in
my term with this company.

The News Examiner
Art Director
The Gallatin News Examiner was a daily newspaper that
relied on increasing both readership as well as advertising by
local merchants. I worked with a team of customer sales
associates and the journalists to create marketable products
for advertising sales. This position required much last minute
layout presentations for large advertisements for vendors and
“SIG” promotions, rack cards, and in house advertising
campaigns.

Customer Service Representative
I worked with financial services and national bank customers
for the manufacture of MasterCard/ Visa bank and debit
cards. I maintained responsibility for providing proofs and for
the estimating, scheduling, routing, shipping, packing labels
in addition to invoicing/billing.
