Projects heading towards publication
A Monte Carlo investigation of fit statistic differences in limited- and full- information
measurement models (dissertation): Recent research has resulted in the development of an IRT
fit statistic that is similar to a popular fit statistic used in SEM. My simulation research indicates that
though these statistics share many mathematical similarities, they can differ dramatically with respect
to sample size, test length, item qualities, and other measurement conditions.
Role of diet in joint pain: This study elaborated on the relationship between body fat and joint
pain. Healthy eating served as an important mediator for joint pain, even when controlling for
diagnoses of arthritis and the use of pain medication. I served as the principal analyst, performing all
mediation and regression analyses as well as reporting findings.
Validation of a PCMH satisfaction survey: The Patient Centered Medical Home at the Ohio
State Medical center wished to assess patient satisfaction with the medical care they provided. I and
other investigators performed a literature review in addition to modeling and determining the quality
of this measure.
Cardiovascular health and stress: Researchers assessed levels of biomarkers indicative of a healthy
cardiovascular system during physically and psychologically stressful events. This study investigates
the impact of parental history as well as psychosocial variables in predicting the body’s response to
stress. I served as the primary analyst in this study, serving as a statistical consultant and
programmer.
Determination of healing predictors: A group of clinical researchers was interested in dietary,
demographic, and psychosocial predictors of wound healing. I served as the primary analyst in this
longitudinal study, performing mixed modeling to determine important predictors of healing in
addition to assessing changes in healing due to these predictors over time.
Development of a sports injury intake assessment: Assessment of sports injuries during patient
intake is important for treatment planning. I assisted in developing a testing model to account for
the location and severity of these injuries in a sample of high school athletes.
