What is HIV/AIDS?
HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is a virus that attacks the immune
system so that the body is susceptible to various diseases.
Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is a collection of symptoms
or diseases caused by decreased immunity due to infection by the HIV
virus, especially attacking T lymphocytes and reducing the number of CD4
cells in charge of fighting infection.
How to transmit HIV / AIDS: 1. Sexual transmission 2. Non-sexual
transmission: Parenteral transmission (use of needles), Transplacental
transmission (transmission from an HIV-positive mother to the fetus),
Blood-borne transmission, Transplantation of HIV-infected organs

Sign and Symptom
Common symptoms of HIV/AIDS include the following: extreme fatigue,
fever for no apparent reason, weight loss of more than 5 kg in less than
2 months, swollen glands, canker sores, ulcers, persistent diarrhea,
unstable breathing .
The discovery of HIV antibodies by ELISA examination needs to be
confirmed by western immunoblot. Elisa(+) HIV test 3 times with
different brands of reagents showed that the patient was HIV positive.
WHO recommends a rapid test (dipstick) so that the results can be
known immediately.

Until now, there is no vaccine or effective drug to prevent or cure
AIDS/HIV infection.
To avoid being infected with HIV and suppress its spread, the main way
is to change behavior, increase correct knowledge about the
pathophysiology of HIV and how it is transmitted.
