 Facebook was founded in 2004 by Harvard student
Mark E. Zukerberg with help from his roommates
Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes
 Facebook was originally for Harvard students then
expanded to other colleges then to anyone
over the age of 18,now,currently to anyone 13
years age or older
 Facebook's mission to
give people the power to
share and make the world
more open and connected

 Chat on April 5 2008,facebook pre released
Facebook chat. It was released to the entire
Facebook user base.
 At first users are only able to chat with their
Facebook friends on a one-to-one basis,
although a user may chat with multiple
friends simultaneously through separate chat
interfaces
 Eg: nimbuzz, E buddy

 Now Facebook is providing several apps for
chatting with friends which includes several
features like video and audio call
 There are several apps like
1. Messenger
2. Messenger lite
3. Workplace chat

 Status updates allows users to post messages for their
friends to read, in turn friends can respond with their
own comments as well as clicking the like button
 Originally the purpose of the feature was to allow
users inform their friends of their current status
including feelings and actions
 Earlier it was asking like “ what are you doing right
now “ in 2009 it was changed to “what's on your mind”

 Facebook allows users to upload photos and to add
them in the albums, in 2010 the company enabled
Facial recognition technology helps users to tag in
uploaded photos.
 On mobile Facebook filters introduced in August
2011
 In May 2016,fb allows users to upload and view
360 degrees photos
 According to Facebook in 2010,there were over 50
billion photos stored on the service.

 In may 2007 Facebook launched its video
platform allowing users to upload videos
 In 2015 Facebook published a report
highlighting the fact that Facebook has seen
an avg of 1 billion videos views every day
 Later it introduced 360 degrees videos.
 In November of 2014 the number of video
uploads to Facebook exceeded YouTube
video uploads

 On April 2016 Mark Zuckerberg announced a
new feature called Facebook live for anyone,
easy to create, share and discover live videos

 Facebook credits are the virtual currency you
can use to buy gifts, and virtual goods in
many games and applications on the
facebook platform
 Virtual credits can be used in many popular
games like happy aquarium, happy island,
hello city

 People poke their friends or friends of friends
on Facebook for a lot of reasons (ex: saying
hello, getting their attention) when you poke
someone, they will receive a notification

 Since the websites founding it has allowed
users to send messages to each other.
 A Facebook user can send message to her
friends at a time
 Deleting a message from ones inbox does not
delete it from the inbox of other users,
 Now it has a feature to send the recorded
voice messages also.

 When you create a Facebook group you can
make it open, closed or secret.
 In an open group anyone can join and
everything is viewable by everyone online
 In a closed group, admins must approve
members and only group members can see
posted content
 Secret groups are of course secret.

can connect with their customers or fans on
Facebook by creating a Facebook page
 Anyone with a Facebook account can create a
page or help manage one , as long as they
have a role on the page.
 People who likes a page can get updates about
the page such as posts, photos or videos in
their News Feed
 When you create a page you automatically
become the page admin

 Adverts manager is an all-in-one tool for
creating your adverts, managing when and

your campaigns are performing.
 In adverts manager you can:
• Choose the objective of your campaign
• Select your audience
• Upload your advert creative
• Write advertising copy

overwhelming sometimes, while missing some
important posts from people you care about
 To avoid this a new feature came to prioritize
what you can see on news feed
 Prioritize your friends so the important people
show up first
 Just tap to star your favourites, fb will make

 Its called a Legacy contact and its pretty easy to add
one
 Your legacy contact will be given the ability to write a
post, respond to friend requests and change the

 You can also choose to delete your account on your

 Spam involves contacting people with unwanted
content or requests,sending bulk messages,
sending friend requests to people you don't know
personally
 If a piece of content is marked as a spam or
receives complaints it will negatively affect the
reach of it‘s posts overall

company, designed specifically for a Indian
market
 Profile picture theft is a serious problem in
India
 Users will be able to control who can
download and share their profile picture
